Ron Paul Drops Out of Presidential Race

From the Washington Times:
Rep. Ron Paul of Texas said Monday he will not compete in primaries in any of the states that have not yet voted — essentially confirming Mitt Romney will win the Republican presidential nomination.

Mr. Paul said he will continue to work to win delegates in states that have already voted and where the process of delegate-selection is playing out. He said that’s a way to make his voice heard at the Republican nominating convention in Tampa, Fla., in August.

“Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted,” Mr. Paul said. “Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have.”

He did encourage his supporters to still turn out and vote.

His decision not to compete for new votes in other states leaves Mr. Romney as the only candidate still actively fighting for voters’ support in the 11 states still to vote. That list includes the biggest prizes on the board — Texas and California.

Theology vs. Obama

There is not much in the news or politics as pathetically ignorant and
completely ridiculous as the secular discussion of a theological

Gay marriage?  There is no such thing as gay marriage.

And all the semantics, word play and hopey changey will not make
it so.  Gay marriage?  No such thing.  There are simply those men
and women who choose to live outside the limits that God placed
on human relationships at creation.

All of the media coverage, Hollywood movies, actors and self-
important political statements can never make marriage into a
homosexual thing.

Marriage is a biblical institution.  To discuss marriage outside of
the biblical foundation is simply an exercise in the worst sort of

God made man at creation, and God made woman for the man.
Then God said, "A man shall leave his father and mother and be
joined unto his wife and they two shall be one flesh."

Any re-definition of marriage is a man centered, personal rebellion
to the law of God, and of course destined to the junkyard of stupid

There is the idea today that if one has a college degree, is a professor,
a doctor, has a position of prominence in the community, is an
actor in Hollywood, has a lot of money or holds a political office, that
they are somehow qualified to lecture the rest of the hoi polloi on
any issue they see fit.

Too bad the Big Bang Theory did not come with a manual.  Oh wait,
there was no big bang, that sound was just a Tyrannosaurus Rex

However, if one truly believes that nothing created everything, and
all we are is animals who crawled up on the beach looking for a
Starbucks and a same sex partner, then I guess the only thing to do
is re-define everything the way we would like it to be.

Personally, I think there should be four strikes in baseball, punting
should be outlawed in football and all hot dogs should be Hebrew
National.  But I am not from Indonesia and masquerding as the

Homosexual marriage?  No way.  It is news today, used to sell
magizines and get votes, but it is just a fairy tale, told by an
idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Austerity Leaders Rebuked in Europe

Coming just days after the French rebuked then-president Sarkozy for supporting strong austerity measures across the board at home and continent wide, Germany's largest state delivered Merkel's Christian Democrats a crushing blow while delivering the Social Democrats and Green coalition a strong victory.

This has political observers worried that Chancellor Merkel's insistence on continent-wide austerity could very well result in her governing coalition losing power in next year's parliamentary elections, due to Europeans tiring of stringent cuts on social spending and limiting entitlements, preferring the governments to "grow their way out of the crisis."

All of this is bad news for Europe's economic crisis, because the leaders pushing for government to become leaner and more responsible are slowly being replaced, while the situation has hardly been resolved and in Greece is still threatening the weak stability of the entire continent's economy.

However, on an ironic note, this turn away from austerity and the possibility of more nations busting could lead investors to return to the United States, that even though we're still embroiled in the great recession, our treasury notes and economy in general is still light years healthier then our European counterparts.

Regardless, the fall of austerity's leaders in Europe is a troubling trend.

Barry at the Bat

The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Chicago team that day,
the score stood 50 to 42 with one inning left to play.
So when ACORN died at first and SEIU did the same,
a sickly silence fell upon the leftists in the game.

A socialist few got up to go in deep despair, the rest clung
to the hope/change which springs eternal in the human breast;
they thought if only Barry could get a whack at that,
they'd stuff in more false ballots now, with Barry at the bat.

But Rahm let drive a single to the wonderment of all,
Biden, the much despised, tore the cover off the ball.
When the dust had lifted and they saw what had occured,
there was Biden safe on second and Rahm a-huggin' third.

Then from the gladdened commies went up a joyous yell,
it bounded from the mountaintops and rattled down to hell;
it was heard out in Chicago where all the crooks were at -
for Barry, gay marriage Barry, was advancing to the bat.

There was pride in Barry's manner, he stepped into his place;
Arrogance in his bearing and a smirk on Barry's face,
responding to Hollywood's cheers, he grinned and tipped his hat -
no socialist in the crowd could doubt, 'twas Barry at the bat.

The blue states were cheering as he dished out more dirt,
the red states all hissed him as it all stuck to his shirt;
while the flyover states got the vote out trip by trip -
defiance gleamed in Barry's eye, hatred curled his lip.

The votes came in with Barry behind, and in deep despair,
the boys in Chicago were helping but Barry was not there;
coke dust and ganja smoke rose up from the shed,
"not to worry guys," the crooked Rahm Emanuel said.

From the blue states filled with losers came up a sullen roar,
like the beating of the storm waves from an Indonesian shore;
"Stack the ballots, stack the ballots," shouted someone on the sand,
its likely they'd have stacked them, had not Barry raised his hand.

With a grin of villainous treason, poor Barry's visage shone,
he stilled the rising riots, he bade the count go on;
he signaled to the teleprompter, the boring game went on -
Barry wasn't worried yet, he knew which lines were drawn.

"Fraud" yelled the Socialists, the Chicago answered "Fraud,"
One pompous look from Barry and the communists were awed.
They saw his face grow stern and cold, they saw his anger strain;
they knew that Barry was about to pass the blame.

The sneer is gone from Barry's lips, his teeth are clenched in hate,
he calls for cruel violence, but he knows it's getting late.
Now the count is coming in, now it makes the air -
the angry glare from Barry, he thinks it isn't fair --

Oh, somewhere in Indonesia the sun is shining bright,
back here in Chicago, the thugs have just begun to fight;
the tea party is cheering, Republicans begin to shout --
for Barry, that composite Barry, has finally struck out.

Newsweek Jumps the Shark

After calling the President gay and portraying him as a saint, Newsweek has officially jumped the shark. Pretty much the only thing left for them to call Mr. Obama is God Almighty:

Mothers' Day Bible Story

And there went a man from the house of Levi, and took
as his wife a Levite woman.  And the woman conceived
and bore a son;  and when she saw he was beautiful to
God, she hid him for three months.  When she could no
longer hide him, she made for him a basket of bulrushes,
placed the child in it and placed it among the reeds by
the riverbank.  And his sister stood at a distance to see
what would be done to him.  Exodus 2:1-4; Acts 7:20

Since this is the one Sunday of the year that we celebrate
Mothers, this is a good passage from which to discover
what traits in a Mother that God uses to accomplish His
work in the world.

You are probably familiar with this old testament story.
The children of Israel were captives in Egypt and had
been for several generations.  But even in captivity,
"the children of Israel were fruitful and increased
abundantly, and multiplied, and grew exceeding mighty
and the land was filled with them."

Historically as has been the case when God's people
begin to gain strength and numbers, un-believing
governments, rulers and kings always decide that the
best way to deal with them is to start killing babies.  In
any land where the true God is rejected, it has always
been and is now that the life of the child has always
been deemed expendable by tyrants.

So the king of Egypt commands the midwives that as
they deliver the babies of the children of Israel, if it is
a male, kill him, if it is a daughter, let them live.

But in this case, Jochebed, the mother of Moses, shows
some down to earth qualities of a God-fearing mother
which would insure that the work of God in the world
would continue according to His plan.  It is true that
Moses was a great man and did great things for God,
but if it was not for a mother who loved him and
was willing to exchange her life for his, he would have
been nothing.

We hear much about great men in the world, and very
little about the mothers who raised them and taught
them by example and precept, how to live and serve.

There are three qualities in Jochebed, the mother of
Moses which reveal why Moses became and still is
a hero to his people.  Perhaps the bottom line message
here is that if men are to do the job of men, they need
gracious, kind and loving mothers to guide them when
they are young.

The first quality of note in Jochebed is faithfulness to
God.  Of course she makes the list of faith in Hebrews
chapter eleven.  Faithfulness in the life of a mother is
perhaps the one foundation which insures the doing
of all the other qualities necessary to bring up a child
in a Biblical manner.  The 137 chapters in the Bible
devoted to the life and exploits of Moses would never
have been possible except for the one paragraph here
devoted to his faithful mother.  Faithfulness to God
may well be a mother's greatest virtue.

The next quality which stands out here is courage.
History books are full of men who were strong and
brave and did great things for their country and for
their people.  Where did Moses learn that strength?
From his mother.  He was never more courageous
than his mother.  Funny thing, that this time of year
when we are in the midst of such a ridiculous, evil
version of politics, that we would be praising a
mother for her courage in defying the edict of an
ungodly leader.  The truth is, it was the courage of
a mother in defying the political weakness of the
king which saved her son, and set the children of
Israel free from bondage.

Here is a woman whose only duty in life was the
birthing and raising of her children, yet she makes
the hero's list in the old and new testaments, and
was great in the eyes of God.  She was not afraid
of the King's law, and she was not afraid of the
King.  Suffice it to say that the greatest need in
our country today is godly mothers who are not
afraid to defy culture and politics in order to obey
the one true God.

And of course, if you read the old testament, you
find that Moses, when he was grown, had that
same quality.  He was not afraid of the wrath of
the king, and he aquired that trait from his mama.

Last quality of Jochebed is care for her son.  You
can read the story, she gave him up to God, cared
for him all the way, and God gave him back to
her to raise.  Funny thing, during the time the king
was making an industry of killing babies, the
mother of Moses was raising a son who would
deliver the Jews from this monster of a king.

One more thing, what if she had given up, done
what the king said, taken the easy way and let
Moses be killed.  After all, that was the law of
the land.  Should she have obeyed it?  Should
we?  Echoing down through history the answer
is a resounding NO.  The law of God always
takes precedence over the law of man,
especially when man's laws stand in violent
opposition to the laws of God.

Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a
woman who fears the Lord, she shall be
praised.  Her children shall rise up and call
her blessed and her husband also.  Happy
Mothers' Day.

The Tea Party Rocked it Today - Virginia 8th District Delegate Convention

Virginia 8th will not be added to growing list of Ron Paul delegates.  Although they tried.  The Tea Party slated delegates will all be going onto Tampa to make sure that the party platform stays conservative.

We also have a rock star in our midst.  Meet Evan Draim.  One of the youngest ever to be attending a GOP convention as a voting delegate.  He is just finishing up his junior year in high school.  Evan is helping to spread the tea party message to high school students far and wide and is very active in his schools republican club and an all around activist.

Not only is he adorable, he is very enthusiastic.  His energy and committment to the cause is truly infectious.
Here is Evan in his two-minute speech before the convention today.  He garnered the most votes, and this was the best attended convention in our history.  Almost double the size from 4 years ago.

Sadly, his video will not embed here, but you can see it here:    A short video you should watch and remember this name.  You will be hearing more from young Mr. Draim.

Here is Marta, Erin, and Evan at our celebration lunch after the convention.
Congrats to all who earned their place at Tampa later this summer.  Make no mistake, getting elected delegate is work.

It seems that I will also be joining them down in Tampa in August, so yeah me!!!

Back Off of J.P. Morgan

The financial world is shocked, shocked I tell you, that J.P. Morgan lost over $2 billion in a risky investment and that federal regulators, who have increased powers since the 2008 crisis, failed to prevent the sizable loss.

J.P. Morgan, which is one of the healthiest and most successful banks in America, lost near 10% yesterday on the market, as investors punished them for their risky bet.

However, the question needs to be asked: isn't this much ado about nothing?

Hundreds of companies and millions of individuals invest their money into the stock market and various businesses every day of week, and while most of them invest on sure bets, there are those who wager on risky propositions. If they succeed, no-one questions their judgement and are often lauded for their ability to take risks, but if they fail - well, just look at J.P. Morgan's stock price.

The bank took a risk, and obviously failed - losing $2 billion in the process. But isn't that a part of investing? Sometimes you win big and sometimes you lose big. I understand the worry and fear of investors and general observers over risky behavior that led to the 2008 meltdown, but that doesn't mean risk is something to avoid, because most American companies wouldn't be where they are if they didn't take risks... and where would be if they didn't?

So, please, everyone take a step back from the outrage over J.P. Morgan. They took a chance, and lost horrifically. But that doesn't mean (1.) that would they did was wrong, considering the entire concept of investing is to take risks and (2.) they need to be punished for their actions, especially since $2 billion is forever lost.

And besides, if J.P. Morgan's stock continues to drop, that might just be a risk I'm willing to take...

What say you?

When I was a little boy, my father took me to a parade!
What will Happen Next Week?

You have to believe that the "gutsy call" and the "evolutionary decision"
primed timed by Barry Soetoro last week were simply next in line on
Axelrod's list for trashing Mitt Romney; ie. second week in May, the
hair cutting thing, all the networks are on board;  pump Barry with the
gay thing.  Funny thing, if you have ever ordered T-shirts in many
different styles, you know how long it takes for delivery.  Barry's
store started selling them yesterday, in pink and lavender. Oh, neat.

And the "Strumpets in the Media for Soetoro" are playing right along
because they have the same list from Axelrod, and they need their
share of the Barry Billion.

I haven't seen Axelrod's list, but here are a few things that may pop
up next week:

They're going to find out that Mitt Romney ate at a Michigan Mac-
Donalds in late 1967 and did not finish his Happy Meal, which means
that he really doesn't care about hungry kids in America.  An eye
witness will be procured, who still works at the same MacDonalds
and can't speak about the incident without breaking down.

And, this one will have scratchy video: he was seen cheering for
one of his sons at a ball game, not sure of the place and time, seems
his son hit a home run.  Mitt cheering in public can only mean one
thing:  he had no regard for the feelings of the pitcher who gave up
the home run.  And that means of course he does not care about
the millions of kids in America who aren't good enough to hit home

Ann has been out of the news for a week now, so how's this one?
The scuzbuckets in the media also have a real old video for this
incident.  Seems Ann packed a school lunch one day for one of
the boys, and all the kid had to eat was a turkey and mayo sanwich,
some Pringles, homemade cookies and water.  Which means that
the National Dairy Association will need to do some research on
why there was no milk or cheese, thus proving that Ann Romney
has no idea about nutrition for millions of school kids.  And in a
fortunate for Barry twist of events, Brian Williams found an
eyewitness.  She is 102 years old, but remembers the event in
precious detail.  The spinster is still traumatized though, and
needed her grand-daughter Julia to relate the information to
Brian Williams in a cartoon.

These are just a few examples of what you can do when you are
a self proclaimed celebrity, with unlimited media access and
big political power.  Better yet, if you are an arrogant, pompous,
pathological liar, you can just tell Axelrod to make up some
stuff and see if it sticks.  Then that Chicago thug/lackey can
get busy making the country proud of our American political
process.  Keep it up Barry, we're not laughing with you, we
are laughing at you.

GOP Opens 12-Point Lead in WI Senate Race

With the recall election facing sitting Governor Scott Walker heating up, the Republican base appears to be backing their candidates. Walker has opened up a five point lead, according to recent polling, and even received more primary votes than the top two Democratic candidates combined.

The Republican Party may have some thinking to do about the race for President in that state later this year, but it appears that the race for Senate is getting better. Former Governor Tommy Thompson appears to be running away with the race for an open Senate seat. This comes after incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold was defeated in 2010.

This poll comes to us from Rasmussen and shows Thompson leading his Democratic opponent Tammy Baldwin.

Thompson (R): 50%
Baldwin (D): 38%
Other/dk: 12%

Now, the race at the top of the ticket may give Baldwin a bit of a boost, but Thompson will likely pick up some of the undecided voters. With Thompson already at 50% and with a highly energized GOP, this may be a pickup for the party in the Senate.

Romney Surges to Within Four... In Oregon!

Perhaps you've been to Oregon, the hipster capital of the Pacific rim? The land of Subarus and home to Portland is sometimes seen as a bastion for Democratic and other left-of-center politicians. The state has shifted quite significantly to the left in the last decade, especially as the California exodus continues apace.

So Democrat Barack Obama should be winning by a landslide margin, correct? After all, he won by 16 points in 2008. After his endorsement of gay marriage, he should be surging-- and at least holding the ground he once held.

Instead, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has cut the Obama lead quite significantly. Two months ago, Romney was behind by 11%. That deficit has been cut by nearly 2/3.

According to a new Survey USA poll, Romney is within striking distance.

Obama: 47%
Romney: 43%
Other/dk: 10%

This follows with the trend across the country. Romney is gaining ground as the GOP starts to coalesce around his candidacy.

Romney Surges to New Lead on Obama

Former Massaschusetts Governor Mitt Romney has opened a widened lead on President Barack Obama. Battered by poor economic news, the President has dipped, while Romney is surging on new GOP unity. While still early in the race, this is good news for the Republican nominee.

This new poll comes to us from Rasmussen, which is the most reliable of the major pollsters. This also comes as Romney has had some success against Obama in the polls so far. This, however, is the largest yet.

Romney: 50%
Obama: 43%
Other/don't know: 7%

This is more good news for the Romney campaign. Gallup has Romney up by three, as well.

Romney: 47%
Obama: 44%
Other/don't know: 9%

The numbers are moving in Romney's direction, and the significant number of undecideds tend to break away from the incumbent. With no leaners in there, the numbers for Rasmussen (assuming a 2/1 break away from Obama) would be:

Romney: 54.6%
Obama: 45.4%

Looks like a healthy margin so far.

Clinton: Obama an "Amateur"

From the NY Post:
Bill Clinton thought so little of President Obama — mocking him as an “amateur” — that he pressed his wife last summer to quit her job as secretary of state and challenge him in the primaries, a new book claims.

“The country needs you!” the former president told Hillary Clinton, urging her to run this year, according to accounts of the conversation included in Edward Klein’s new biography of Obama.

The title of Klein’s explosive, unauthorized bio of Obama, “The Amateur” (Regnery Publishing), was taken directly from Bill Clinton’s bombshell criticism of the president, the author said.

“Barack Obama,” Bill Clinton said, according to book excerpts, “is an amateur.”

Doublespeak, Doubletrouble

BTW:  Barney Frank says he will not invite Barry to his upcoming
wedding.  just sayin'

Okay, the re-definition of marriage thing.  Barry actually thinks he did
something courageous?  That's a laugh.  He is a Chicago politician.  It
is always with them, "what did we gain and what did we lose?"  The
answer to that is, he gained nothing except some Hollywood money,
and he lost the White House, fortunately.  The arrogance of this self
important potentate reminds one of a poem by Emily Dickinson:

How dreary to be somebody!
How public like a frog
to tell your name the livelong day
to an admiring bog.

So we see Barry, thinking he is somebody, croaking his own name,
well, an alias, to the public who he thinks is in love with him.  Alas,
they are not.  He is in love with himself, and he shows himself to be
the most insecure person on the planet.  Like a skinny little bullfrog
he thinks he has to croak his name all day and all night, to remind
everyone in the bog that he is still there.  In the trade, we call this,

He now thinks because he usurped the presidency that he now has
authority to re-define marriage?  Lets see, God created the world
and all things in it, He made Adam in His likeness, He created Eve
for Adam, and called her the mother of all the living.  So, here
comes pitchman Barry Soetoro, shilling for a few votes and a few
dollars, so he can keep on croaking in the bog, and he shouts--
"But wait --  there's more.  Men don't have to marry women if
they don't want to.  Women don't have to marry men if they don't
want to.  My position has evolved, after having some snacks with
Malia and Sasha, pass the cheese dip please."

Well, to invoke Charles Darwin is really going out on a limb.
Chuck was married to a woman, albeit his cousin Emma.  Not
sure if his theory of evolution extended to the upcoming gala
wedding of Barney and Jim, or to the political aspirations of
Barry Soetoro.  But with that loud noise from the Big Bang,
one never knows.

If Barry would tell the truth for once, he could have said that
he has always been for gay marriage, well, homosexual
marriage.  Actually Barry, that's why the Greeks referred to
it as homo-sex: same sex.  And as you know, some countries
are so against it, as a deviant aberration that they outlaw the
act.  But what do you care?  You're a thug from Chicago, thug
smuggling city of political strumpets.

Re-defining marriage?  What will you re-define it as next year,
when you get back to Chicago and become bored?  As your
evolutionary process continues in the survival of the stupidest,
will you define marriage as between a human and an animal?
You said evolution.  Or will it be a union of a Bobcat T-180
and a Peterbilt semi?  What the heck, Bawreck, if you think
you can re-define it, you can make it anything you want.

This slippery personal political slope you are on is very steep
and you are not moving up.  You have been breathing your own
air too long, and in that totally narcissistic process, you are

America Lost in a Bubble

All bubbles burst.  This is a law of nature.  No matter from what material the bubble arises.  No matter what forces propel its expansion.  All bubbles burst.

Actually the science of bursting bubbles has recently popped into the forefront of scientific discovery.  Conventional wisdom has taught since the beginning of time that when a bubble bursts it simply vanishes.  However, recent observations using high speed cameras has revealed that when a bubble bursts it leaves a circle of miniature daughter bubbles that pop so fast the eye cannot catch it.  There is even the thought that each daughter bubble leaves a ring and each daughter bubble leaves a ring ad infinitum.   All happening so fast it cannot be seen.  And yet, each succeeding bubble bursts.

The physics of bubbles tells us that the pressure on the inside works against the tension on the surface and a ratio between the two determines when the bubble will burst.  No matter how it bursts, no matter why or when it bursts one thing is certain: all bubbles burst.

In economics a bubble is the term commonly used for a cycle characterized by rapid expansion followed by rapid often dramatic contraction.  What causes economic bubbles is often a matter of dispute among economists.  Some believe they are a natural part of the economic cycle: everything goes up, and everything eventually comes back down.

Others believe they are caused by inflation.  In this scenario everything has a natural price which is the intersection of cost and demand.  The Bubble is the artificial rise of price over the natural price.  Eventually the economy must correct itself and the inflated product will return to its natural price.

No matter which theory you subscribe to, one thing is certain: all bubbles burst.

Remember the Clinton years?  Today the official History as dispensed constantly by the Corporations Once Known as the Mainstream Media is that the wise and benevolent rule of the man from Hope was a time of plenty.  There was solid growth and balanced budgets.  As the Progressive narrative goes, President Clinton alone was responsible for the growth of the nineties which Bush the Younger proceeded to destroy leaving a mess for President Obama who has fought valiantly to restart the economy and save the day.  At least that’s the story as dispensed by the headlines and the talking heads.

The reality is approximately 180 degrees opposite of the spin.

President Clinton won a three way election with less than 50% of the vote (twice) and called it a mandate both times.  The policies he opposed for his entire career had recently won the Cold War, and President Clinton reaped the rewards.  He gutted the military and called it a Peace Dividend which he proceeded to spend on social engineering projects pumping up the economy with government spending.  Then the Dot-com Boom turned into the Dot-com Bubble and the economy was roaring.  Another plus for Clinton was the defeat of Hillarycare which would have torpedoed the economy just as Obamacare is now.  He also profited by the election of a Republican House in 1994 which kept the promises in the Contract With America and led the way in cutting spending and building a budget that at least appeared to be balanced.

Everything was coming up roses. The economy was growing and so was the Dot-com Bubble, which everyone just knew would go on forever even though anyone older than the milk in the fridge should have known that all bubbles burst.

In 2000 George II won a contested election, and before he had time to change the drapes in the Oval Office the Dot-com Bubble burst.  This led to a short sharp recession; this was the one that Bush didn’t blame on Clinton.  He instead passed the now infamous Bush tax cuts and mailed out what he called rebates in the form of free money to spur the economy.  All the while behind the scenes the housing bubble was beginning to inflate to epic proportions.   Federal spending grew, the government grew, and the bubble grew.

During the go-go years people with no job, no money, and sometimes no ID were able to buy McMansions for no money down and walk out with cash in their hands.  How could this ever go wrong?  I remember hearing of people bidding on houses, offering 10% over the asking price and losing out to someone who offered more.  Prices went up and up and up and somehow even sane people apparently thought it would never end.

Things looked good.  Things looked very good.  Following the recession which began seven weeks after President Bush took office, America had six years of uninterrupted economic growth.  There were fifty two straight months of job creation producing more than eight million new jobs, the unemployment averaged 5.3 %, after-tax income per capita increased by11%, from 2000 to 2007, and GDP grew by more than 17 % adding almost $2.1 trillion.  Exotic ways to paper over the fact that people with no money were buying houses fueling the boom kept everyone smiling and the bubble expanding.

The only problem was that eventually all bubbles burst.  And when it did John McCain suspended his presidential race to fly back to Washington and add his hearty, “Me Too” to the bailout and seal his fate.

President Obama took office as the economy crashed into the deepest recession since World War Two.  He immediately began blaming President Bush and hasn’t stopped yet.  He passed the largest stimulus bill in American History, began a record expansion of the Federal government, and the largest spending binge since the beginning of time.  All in the name of cleaning up the mess from the bursting of the housing bubble.

And what are all these trillions of dollars in reckless spending doing?  Are they inflating another bubble?  Change the words and you change the perception: spending becomes investment and responsibility becomes austerity.  Those who are manning the pumps aren’t blowing up a financial bubble they are showing compassion for their fellow man and investing for the future.  Anyone who warns of a coming crash or tries to slow the rate of spending is pushing grandma off the cliff for the benefit of millionaires and billionaires.

No matter how this mad dash to nowhere is spun one thing is certain: all bubbles burst

On the brighter side President Obama has perfected the cure for illegal immigration.  The economy has taken such a massive hit that the illegal immigrants are leaving looking for greener pastures.  And he has also brought the solution to a 10%+ unemployment rate.  So many people have become discouraged that they have dropped out of the labor market, and according to our current administration this is good news.  Perhaps we should take a cue from Mr. Obama’s favorite pastime and just consider his first term a mulligan.

Maybe the slogan for President Obama’s second term shouldn’t be “Forward.” Perhaps it should be “I deserve a re-do.”

Just remember: all bubbles burst.

A Dark and Stormy Week

It was a dark and stormy week for the Soetoro campaign.  Started
off bad and got worse.  There are many reasons for this, not the
least of which is that he has been campaigning his entire political
life.  This campaign began on the day Barry took office, so when
he tried to use the Ohio State Campus as a kickoff, the ball fell off
the tee and the game was called for lack of interest.

Then there is the Barry Soetoro thing.  Who is this guy?  No one
knows, well Rod Blagojevich knows but he is is prison.  The
clubs in Chicago know, but at Down Low and Man's Country,
they're not talking, too scared of the goon squad.

And there's the five trillion dollar thing. (5,000,000,000,000)  But
over the life of the note, paid for by the taxpayers, it will be more
like fifteen trillion dollars. (15,000,000,000,000)  Wouldn't be so
bad except Barry just stole the money from the people who did
not vote for him, and gave it to the people who did, thus making
his personal American dream possible.

Then there is Barry's do nothing useful presidency.  He golfed
a lot, I mean a lot.  Watched a lot of ESPN, vacationed when
he wasn't golfing, at a cost of millions and millions of taxpayer
dollars, while he was telling the American people, "Hey, we're
all in this together.  I know times are tough, but hey, I'm a
president."  And there's his wife, whats-her-name who is busy
tarnishing the reputation of first ladies everywhere.  Better
hurry cutie, you only got six months left to do your thang.  It
will only take Ann Rommney about 30 days to make us forget
your bitter, snotty behavior.

And then there's the gay thing."Oh, by the way America, here's
how my thinking has evolved since the other night. The fam and
I were having Kobe steak, rare of course, braised aspargus with
an onion/lemon sauce reduction, marinated olives with herbs and
anise, roasted chesnuts with black pepper honey, and for desert,
black forest chocolate cake with caramel rasberry icing and a
bittersweet double chocolate sauce, and oh, yeah, that gay
marriage thing, okay by me, where's the TV clicker, is the
game on yet?"

But final straw in Barry's horrendously dark and stormy "first"
campaign kickoff week is that everyone in the country, Dems,
Reps, and Independents have realized that Barry Soetoro is
nothing but a stuffed shirt, morally empty, narcissistic final
example of what politics in America has come to.  He has no
tricks left, used 'em all up.  Got no fastball, no slider, and he
has thrown so many spitters, we know them by now.  He has
been lying the whole time, and he is all out of lies.

The bunch of floozies who have been crafting the material
for Barry's teleprompter are fresh out of lies.  All Barry has
for this campaign is Barry.  Americans are tired of whats-
her name, tired of hearing the Chicago chin music, tired
of hearing how great the "first family" is, and how dumb,
fat and classless the rest of us are.

All Barry can do now is golf every weekend, vacation six
or eight more times generate some new "friends" at his
"pickup" basketball games, look for a soft spot to land in
Chicago, and keep on doing what he has always done best -
nothing useful.

Adam Mayes Captured

Update: Dead.

Action News 5 confirmed Adam Mayes has been captured.

Officials say at this time, Adam Mayes is alive, but is close to death.

Fundraising on Gays for $500 Alex

This didn't take long.  Not that I thought that it would.  But I was asked by a commenter not too long ago how I felt that my religious views were being used like a tool by the GOP.

I wonder how gay people feel like when their private sexuality is being used as one?

No one in their right mind believes that President Obama ever was against gay marriage.  This is nothing but pandering to a group of people who were upset that he wasn't delivering on his campaign promises and were withholding those precious checks. ($1M raised within 1 hours of announcement) This is blackmail (from both sides of this equation in fact) plain and simple.

It is also cheap political theater.  He is trying to use this issue to distract conservatives and get SoCons worked up into a tizzy over an issue that the President has virtually no power to do anything about.  Marriage is a state issue.  Even the likes of President Obama seems to recognize that.

I also it think it is noteworthy that he even decided to bring his daughters into this.  What happened to family being off-limits?  You either keep your children out of the campaign, or they become fair game.  You don't get to have it both ways.

Do not be fooled by this folks.  This is a way to try and distract people off his failure of an administration, the poor economy, and all the factors that are working against him as he runs for re-election.  Don't fall for it.  Stay on message.

Friend –
Today, I was asked a direct question and gave a direct answer:

I believe that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I hope you’ll take a moment to watch the conversation, consider it, and weigh in yourself on behalf of marriage equality:

I’ve always believed that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. I was reluctant to use the term marriage because of the very powerful traditions it evokes. And I thought civil union laws that conferred legal rights upon gay and lesbian couples were a solution.

But over the course of several years I’ve talked to friends and family about this. I’ve thought about members of my staff in long-term, committed, same-sex relationships who are raising kids together. Through our efforts to end the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, I’ve gotten to know some of the gay and lesbian troops who are serving our country with honor and distinction.

What I’ve come to realize is that for loving, same-sex couples, the denial of marriage equality means that, in their eyes and the eyes of their children, they are still considered less than full citizens.

Even at my own dinner table, when I look at Sasha and Malia, who have friends whose parents are same-sex couples, I know it wouldn’t dawn on them that their friends’ parents should be treated differently.

So I decided it was time to affirm my personal belief that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.
I respect the beliefs of others, and the right of religious institutions to act in accordance with their own doctrines. But I believe that in the eyes of the law, all Americans should be treated equally. And where states enact same-sex marriage, no federal act should invalidate them.

Thank you,

West Virginia Democrats Go Rogue

Simply put, West Virginia Democrats do not really like Barack Obama.
That's the only sane explanation for how Keith Judd, a convicted felon who is still serving out his lengthy prison sentence in Texas for extortion, received over 40% of the vote in yesterday's party primary, which nearly 200,000 Democrats participated in.

We have seen this before, such as the 2008 primary when Hillary Clinton defeated him by 40 plus points and the general later that year when Senator McCain won the state by 13. However, to lose several counties to someone who (1.) can't vote, (2.) is in jail and (3.) didn't campaign at all has to create some doubt as to your overall campaign strength.

What makes it even worse for President Obama is that 20% of North Carolina's Democrats voted "no preference" in their primary yesterday rather then unanimously re-nominate him. This is in a state he carried by 14,000 votes last election, meaning there is very little room for loss he wants their electoral votes again.

What say you?

The Homosexual Question for Obama

The question here is not what he thinks about homosexual marriage, or homosexuals, for that
matter.  The question is, why now?  This lame excuse about "my views were evolving" is
about as bad as "the dog ate my homework."   Or is Barry's case, "I ate the dog while I was
doing my homework."  When were his views evolving?  When the church he attended in
Chicago for twenty years had an ongoing Down Low Club?  When he was a life member in
the Man's Country Bath House?  Wouldn't it have seemed more of a deeply held belief of his
if he had been honest with the country back when he decided to run for the highest office in
the land.  To hold out on the American people for three and a half years, and to now say, "I
am for same sex marriage," presents a problem for him unlike any sitting president has ever
faced.  The real question is, who pressured him into this public, prime time confession?

Barry says he is a Christian.  Okay, okay.  Even people who are not Christian and who do not
believe the Bible to be true know what the Bible has to say about homosexuality.   It is completely
clear that homosexuality is an abomination to God.  We don't even need to discuss that issue, it
is quite plain, time and time again.

Many of us think Barry is a Muslim.  Okay, okay.  Have you checked lately to see what the Muslims
think about homosexuality?  It runs pretty much along the lines of the King James Version.  No
question about it, the Koran is totally against homosexuality.  The language against homosexuality
is as strong in the Koran as the Bible.  So, the question is again, "Why Now?"

Barack Obama has to know that he just gave the election to Mitt Rommney.  He has to know that
he will be back in Chicago while the snow flies this winter.  Before today, he was looking at a
landslide defeat.  Now, it is certain.  Does he actually think that this country will all suddenly
come out for homosexual marriage?  Does he think that this country will accept what he says as
something worth voting for?

Who pressured him?  Who is black mailing him?  Who decided that it is time for his past to catch
up with him?  That is the question.  The only way we're going to find out is to check the obits.

Obama Campaign Quotes Man Who Posted Racist Tweet, Talked about 'F****** B****es', Socialism

In yet another extremely odd move, the Obama for America PA twitter account quoted @Dan_Mac_ yesterday. The tweet itself was inconsequential drivel that you would expect from the average Obama supporter:
Apparently, however, the Obama campaign either did not bother to look through the accounts of people they are quoting, or support what this person said. Either way, @Dan_Mac_ has authored multiple offensive and racist tweets, mainly focusing on Asian-Americans. One example is this, in which he refers to Asian people as "they" and refers to them through a stereotype:
Throughout @Dan_Mac_'s twitter account, the f-word is use repeatedly and gratuitously. One such tweet reads (obscenities obscured):
And what liberal twitter account would be complete without a yearning for socialism:
Or a creepy, sycophantic love for President Obama?
Just a quick tip to the Obama campaign: unlike the media with Obama in 2008, you might want to vet who you're quoting.

North Carolina Affirms Traditional Marriage

With 93% of counties reporting, North Carolina has become the 30th state to ban same-sex marriage and to protect the traditional definition as between one man and one woman.

Over 60% of voters supported the constitutional amendment, which polling outfits predicted would receive around 55% support over the weekend, that legendary evangelist Billy Graham came out and supported in a call to protect the bedrock of our moral foundation.

This news should come as no surprise to casual observers, as religion plays a very important role in North Carolina's culture, but news outlets have been quick to point out that now all the former states once belonging to the confederacy have banned same-sex marriage in one form or another, which is highly irrelevant.

In other North Carolina electoral news, over 20% of Democrats voted "no preference" rather then for President Obama in the primary, which follows West Virginian Democrats awarding 40% to a man in jail for threatening a university in New Mexico.

Of Biblical Proportions

By John Brentlinger

One of the phrases used by newspapers, (what's that?) satirists, pundits and TV (what's that?) commentators is the line: "of Biblical Proportions." In the context in which it is used, it is always wrong, it is never right, and it always falls woefully short of being truly descriptive of actual events. And it is being used more and more in politics and other fairy tales.

Say it rains in some town or borough, oh, ten inches in a twelve hour period. "Oh, we are getting rain in biblical proportions." Maybe 30 inches of snow in one day, "Oh, the sky is falling, we are getting snow in biblical proportions."

Nonsense, and it is time someone called it for what it is, nonsense. A biblical proportion of rain is enough to cover the entire earth, higher than the highest mountain, deeper than the deepest sea, killing everyone except those in the ark with Noah, displacing animals, fossils, flora and fauna; that is a flood of Biblical proportions.

This year, the only thing that even comes close to anything of biblical proportions is the nation wide, internet wide, televison wide, newspaper wide, (I know, what are those?) county shopper wide, bill board wide, magazine wide flood of pictures of Barry Soetoro. And I might add, they always get his name wrong. No one knows what his name really is.

Barry himself probably gets mixed up.

If this arrogant, self important narcissistist got a a nickel for everytime his brazen picture was posted around the country daily, he could have used that Five Trillion dollars to pay off those who put him in office, instead of relying on the good folks at Crane paper to keep the U.S. Treasury printing counterfeit Barry dollars and charging the American people.

We're not going to find out his real name until his new book comes out in 2013, "How I Scammed Everyone, You Can Do It Too." In that epic, he will reveal all the things the country
really wanted to know, but were tired of asking.

You know, where was he really born, where did he really work, where did he really go to college, how did he really win any election in Illinois, why did Rod Blagojevich really go to jail for 14 years; why wouldn't the government allow all the tapes of his conversation to be played; what did Barry really do in Chicago, the friends, the deaths, the clubs, the "church," and etcetera, ad infintum?

Anyway, the biblical proportion thing is, as that mental giant Joe Biden would say, is "literally," not out of line when it comes to Barry's grinning mug being plastered every-
where and anywhere on anything that will stand still long enough to be tattooed. And frankly, I am terminal and exhausted of seeing that arrogant grin every time I see anything that slightly resembles media.

Problem for Barry is, it gives him face recognition, but not name recognition. Is it Barry, Barak, Barack, Davis, Dunham, Soetoro, Smith, Jones, who knows? Got to be very confusing
for all non-thinking Democrats, especially those with no ID's.

What do you want to bet that the Democrats try to put his face on the ballot this November, instead of his alias, thus saving time and thought for those who are obtuse enough to vote Democratic? That is, if there is a November this year.

Thug smuggler for the country

Power maker, Den of Thieves;

Player with politics and the nation's future,

Slimy, Skinny, Lying,

City of the naked shoulders.

They tell me you are wicked and I believe them,
for I have seen your effeminate men luring each
other to evil,

They tell me you are crooked and I answer yes,
it is true, I have seen your politicians lie and cheat
and steal and murder, and stay in office to do it

They tell me you are brutal and my reply is, on
the blank faces of your opposition, I have seen
fear and scandal, as they are sent to prison.

And having answered so I turn once more to those
afraid to speak out, and I say to them:

Speak out now, do not allow criminals to run our
city, our offices, our streets and our neighborhoods.

Spouting lies and curses amid the passing out of jobs
and federal money, here is a tall dark villian going
after every power he can get his hands on,

Fierce as a junkyard dog craving the blood of his
enemies, using the powers of the gun to savage
those who oppose him.

Evil eyed

Tearing down and not rebuilding,

In the smoke filled rooms, white powder and smoke
everywhere, laughing with yellow teeth,

Ruining the destiny of a great country, sneering as
a young braggart sneers,

Grinning like an ignorant fighter who knows the fight
is fixed,

Bragging and laughing that in his heart he has no
care for the people

Blaming the rest of the country with the blame of a
lying tongue, half naked, cheating, proud to be thug
smuggler for the country, power maker, den of thieves,
player with politics and the nation's future, slimy,
skinny, panhandling, city of the naked shoulders.

Santorum Endorses Romney

From the AP:
Former presidential hopeful Rick Santorum urged his supporters to back fellow Republican Mitt Romney's campaign Monday in a late-night email that ignored that Santorum once calling Romney the "worst Republican in the country" during their bitter contest.

Santorum, a former senator from Pennsylvania and a newly minted celebrity among conservatives, said that the one-time rivals would unite to deny President Barack Obama's re-election. But in a nod that the wounds had not yet healed, he reminded his supporters of the deep differences between the two and that misgivings had not yet abated.

"The primary campaign certainly made it clear that Gov. Romney and I have some differences. But there are many significant areas in which we agree," Santorum wrote, citing common ground in economic, social and foreign policy.

He added: "Above all else, we both agree that President Obama must be defeated. The task will not be easy. It will require all hands on deck if our nominee is to be victorious. Gov. Romney will be that nominee and he has my endorsement and support to win this the most critical election of our lifetime."

Serbia's Uninspiring Choice

Yesterday the 2012 parliamentary and presidential elections were held in Serbia, which offered the electorate two uninspiring choices to lead the Balkan pariah into the future: Boris Tadic, the highly inept, corrupt president or Thomislav Nikolic, the nationalist, anti-U.S. Milosevic ally.

Geez, I'm just giddy with excitement for Serbia's future.

Tadic received 26.7% of the vote and Nikolic received 25.5%, forcing a run-off later this month to decide the presidency. On the parliamentary side, Nikolic's party won the most seats (73), but most analysts don't expect him to successfully form a majority coalition.

The big surprise was the Serbian Radicals failing to win one seat in parliament, which is the result brought upon by Nikolic's departure several years ago and the general failing direction of the party.

Regardless of who wins the run-off, neither will be able to restore Serbia's economy from the 25% unemployment hell they are currently enduring, or successfully conclude the Kosovo nightmare on favorable terms. What Serbia needs is a new type of party, one that recognizes alliance with us and the west is vital to their future, but that doesn't sacrifice their heritage, particularly in regards to the Kosovo territory.

Looking for Quick Cash?

In this economy, it is especially important to keep a firm tab on your finances. The recession has hit many families hard, and many people are often caught without the money that they need to pay their necessities. This is why it is important to make sure that you are well prepared. Sometimes you just need a little more to hold you over until the next paycheck makes it. This is why you should always explore your options and make sure that you are prepared. You can do this by looking at a fast cash loans online provider. These can offer you a quick loan online for the money you need. You just pay them back with interest and you are all set!

Monday Morning Warning: The Composite in Chief

By John Brentlinger

Fasten your seatbelts kids, the 2012 campaign is about to get fairy-tale-interesting, no pun
intended. Bill Ayers and Barry's speechwriters are about to create, ex nihilo, out of nothing,
some great re-election propaganda. Let the composite compositions begin.

We are about to learn so many great things about Barry that by the time November rolls
around, we'll all want to give him another Nobel Peace Prize, let alone re-elect him for
four more of the most miserable years this country has never seen, culminating in another
war between the states, say, about 2015.

First, we're about to find out that he had girlfriends, not just one, but a multitude of real,
red blooded American, well, some of them, girls. Today, they're referred to by the hoi
polloi as blow up dolls, but to Barry, they were "composites."

Next, we'll learn that he has been a conservative all his honorable life, slightly to the right of Atilla the Hunster. Seriously, he would have voted for Goldwater, his namesake (Barry) given the time frame and the chance. And George Wallace; Barry would have been right there with him. And he actually was a fiscal conservative, there will be proof on the internet.

And, then they'll tell us that he wanted to join the United States Marines, but had a fallen arch, or tinnitus, or Rin Tin Tin syndrome. In the alternative, he wanted to be a fighter pilot, or perhaps he wanted to be all he could be in the U.S. Army. Absent any public acceptance of those theories, he will come out in October and admit that he really was a member of the Special Forces, just under a different name, something like, John Rambo.

We're about to find out that he did hold real jobs. No, really, real "man jobs." He once worked as a longshoreman, he was a logger in Oregon, worked in Texas as a wildcatter on a huge oil rig, sailed for years in the Merchant Marine, and was a welder topping out the beams in the tallest buildings in the world. Really wanted to be an astronaut, but there was that Rin Tin Tin thing.

And, as the curtain rolls back on Barry Soetoro Davis, our composite-in-chief, we're going to find out that he was truly a great student. Proof of great term papers will be presented, grand lectures about our great capitalistic society; and if technology allows it, we will be treated in late October to a great video of his Valedictorian speech at Ohio State, err...Notre Dame,
err, uhh Stanford, or Harvard, Yale, or where-ever.

For the composite cherry on the composite sundae, featuring our composite-in-chief, we will be treated to old home videos with little Barry on the front porch swing, playing with his pet Miniature Schnauzer, sitting with Mommie and Daddie. The idylic, all American family scene will be cut short though, they'll have to leave out the scene where his Daddie barbecues the family pet and serves it up with ugali and fish.

Education Reform - Do What Works, Not What Feels Good

Any thinking person in this country has to admit that our public education system is broken.  We only rank #21 in the world for the population with the most high school and college graduates.  The system is stuck on stupid and continues to go down hill.
The literacy rates among fourth grade students in America are sobering. In a recent report by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, one out of three students scored "below basic" on the 2009 National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) Reading Test. Among these low performing students, 49 percent come from low-income families. Even more alarming is the fact that more than 67 percent of all US fourth graders scored "below proficient," meaning they are not reading at grade level.
Reading proficiency among middle and high school students isn't much better. On the 2009 NAEP Reading Test, about 26 percent of eighth graders and 27 percent of twelfth graders scored below the "basic" level, and only 32 percent of eighth graders and 38 percent of twelfth graders are at or above grade level.
No matter where you fall on the political spectrum you must realize that this is quickly becoming an issue of national security.  We cannot continue to perform on the world stage if we can't get fourth graders reading at grade level.  Public schools are not going anywhere and they must be fixed.

The problem becomes how do we fix them.  Conservatives and liberals have different views on how this should be accomplished.  Typically conservatives are for school choice and allowing the money to follow the child.  Liberals are putting more money into the system.  Neither one of these solutions on their own will solve the problems that we have.  We need to move beyond political ideology to find the solutions that are right for the local population of school aged children.

One of the latest trends in education is college prep courses for everybody.  Some children are not going to go to college, and it is not always about money.  Some kids just are not cut out for post-secondary education.  A case in point, I have a family member who had some issues while in high school.  Nothing major, but enough that he could have easily gone down the wrong path.  After graduation and shortly after 9/11 he decided to join the marines.  He signed up for a four-year stint and was given some educational incentives.  After serving his four years and spending some time in Iraq at the onset of the war, he decided to get out of the marines and go to college.  He believed that is what his mother wanted him to do.  His mother wanted him to be happy and a well-adjusted adult.  He went to college for one semester and dropped out.  He then flitted around doing some interesting jobs; including fishing in Alaska.  What he realized is that he liked the structure that the corp provided for him.  He is back in the marines, happily married and a daddy of a beautiful baby girl.  The military is something that works for him.   He has served in a theater of war, he understands what he has committed to.  It may not be everyone else's choice of a career, but for him it is a fit.  He is happy, so his mother is happy for him.
But we continue to push the narrative that a college education is mandatory.  It is not, nor is it the best thing for every kid.
Over time, it morphed into the theology that every child should go to college (a four-year liberal-arts college at that) and therefore every child should be required to pursue a college-prep course in high school. The results have been awful. High school dropout rates continue to be a national embarrassment. And most high school graduates are not prepared for the world of work. The unemployment rate for recent high school graduates who are not in school is a stratospheric 33%. The results for even those who go on to higher education are brutal: four-year colleges graduate only about 40% of the students who start them, and two-year community colleges graduate less than that, about 23%. "College for everyone has become a matter of political correctness," says Diane Ravitch, a professor of education at New York University. "But according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, less than a quarter of new job openings will require a bachelor of arts degree. We're not training our students for the jobs that actually exist." Meanwhile, the U.S. has begun to run out of welders, glaziers and auto mechanics--the people who actually keep the place running.
One of the solutions for our educational system is being played out in Arizona.
Two years later, with the $2.4 million agricultural- and technical-sciences building up and running, Martin says, "It's without doubt the best program we have. It's an alternative way to teach them math, science and reading. They love it. They're attentive, working hard, hands on." McBride imports veterinarians from around the country to visit the reservation and work with the 226 students, who assist in both operating theaters, prepping animals for surgery and learning how to suture, draw blood and give injections. The veterinary clinic has become a valued resource on the reservation, but more than that, the academic results have been spectacular. "Nearly every one of these kids passed the state comprehensive test we give to 17-year-olds in Arizona," Martin told me. "Less than about 40% of my non-vocational-education students passed.
Clyde McBride pushed and pushed to get this program into place at one of the reservations.  These kids are doing well, they are excited to learn and are happy to be in school everyday.  They are learning, but more importantly they are gaining a work ethic that will follow them for the rest of their lives.  Some of these kids are college bounds kids, but they have a step up on many others who go to college, for one thing they have already been given a skill that will be useful to their professional lives.  They have direction in their lives.  They are not in college to go to parties and "find themselves".

School systems are beginning  to see that doing away with career path education programs was a mistake that was made 40 years ago.  They were considered racist, as many in the programs were people of color.  It wasn't that the programs were wasteful, they were just not done properly.  There are many high schools popping up all over the nation that are giving career skills to students.  Not all of these schools are in poor urban areas or have a majority of minorities in them.  One of my local high schools has a career track for students.  I am not sure of all the different offerings that they have, but one is in retail fashion and the other is in hairdressing.  Both will give high school students a marketable skill that they can use immediately following graduation to find themselves a job.  I have not been to this hairdresser in quite some time, but I used to pay $300 to have my hair highlighted and cut.  She and her now husband paid for their rather large wedding themselves.  He is a chef.  My only point being that obviously they made a good living in order to pay for that wedding and still own a home.

What sense does it make for students to take out tens of thousands of dollars in loans when so many don't graduate?  College has become like a rite of passage instead of what it should be; a means to an end.  The end result being an education that will give that person the ability to obtain marketable skills and a job.  Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that college is a waste of time, but it certainly is not for everyone.  There is a student loan bubble getting bigger all the time and sooner or later this bubble is going to burst.
We need to stop thinking in terms of a one size fits all mentality that post secondary education is mandatory for all.  It isn't.  There are plenty of jobs that are good paying and do not require a 4 year college degree.  We need to change the paradigm of education in this country and realize that what worked in the 70's is obviously no longer working.  We need to look at the programs around the country that are successful and adapt them to different community needs.  Obviously a school that offers vet clinic services isn't going to work in the inner city.  But other programs will.  Inner city communities need bus drivers, truck drivers, mechanics, machine operators, construction workers, and a variety of other skilled workers.  It is time that we stop being so snobby and realize that those jobs help make America run too.

By John Brentlinger

Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai saying, Get up, go to
Nineveh that great city and cry against it, for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. Jonah 1:1-3

The real subject in the book of Jonah is not the whale. The real question in this passage is: "What sort of men does God use?"

So, here is Jonah. He wasn't the brightest bulb in the box. He thought he could actually get away from God. You know, that is some pretty shortsighted thinking, but that's just what he did. So he made it to the port city of Joppa, bought a ticket on a ocean liner, thinking he was smarter than God.

Now, as a brief aside, in theology there is the term: Omnipotence; it is used to describe an attribute of God, and it means that He can do whatever He wills to do. Why? H-e-l-l-o - because He is God. Having created all things after the counsel of His own will, He has the power over all things; remember the potter
and the clay? Oh yeah, that's still in effect. But Jonah apparently didn't know about that one, or he thought he had a free will to do as he pleased, and we can see how that idea worked out.

So, he gets on the boat, they set sail, and what do you know, God was out in the ocean. And it says that God sent out a great wind into the sea, and you know the rest of the story. Big storm, sailors were horribly frightened, they tried to
lighten the ship, meanwhile, our hero Jonah was down in a hammock, listening to Bon Jovi on his Ipod, well, he was sleeping like a baby.

The sailors woke him up, asked him how he could sleep, they took a vote, and threw Jonah overboard. The wind stopped, the sea was calm, the ship made for Tarshish, and then the story gets really good.

It says that God had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. Omnipotence, remember? If God can create the world and all things in it, is should come as no surprise that he can start a typhoon, still the wind, or talk to a fish. That stuff
seems pretty simple compared to creating say, a leaf, the sun, a duck billed Platypus, a snow- drop anemone, a Tasmanian devil, or Emily

As creator of all things He can do whatever he wants, and that is what He does. So, the big fish swallows our hero, our hero is in the belly of the fish for three
days and three nights. At last, a real life account of someone being lower than whale dung. And in the belly of the great fish, he couldn't use his cell phone,
couldn't text, tweet, couldn't watch UFC or baseball, do the crossword or Sudoku. All he could do was think and pray, especially pray. (see Psalm 42 & 88)

And so God spoke to the fish, and the fish -- (Remember? Even the winds, sea and fish obey him.) vomited Jonah onto dry land, by this time, wiser, and I might add, somewhat smellier, his eyes probably burned, and I'll wager he had no appetite. Ever seen the inside of a fish? Not pretty.

So God says again to Jonah, get up, go to Nineveh and preach. And this time, he does what God tells him to do. Jonah is proof that you can learn a lot in the belly of a whale. So he preaches, the city repents, and God does as He pleases, omnipotence, remember?

So, what qualifications did Jonah have to be a preacher? If he had received that message from God today, he would grab a ticket for an aeroplane, wouldn't have time for a fast train; he would have left immediately for the nearest cemetery, err, seminary, sorry, I get them confused; where he would have learned ermeneutics, homiletics and church polity, how to lead music, how to be a team
player, and et cetera. And he still wouldn't know how to preach. Why? Because you don't learn that from a textbook. You learn it in the desert, in a jail cell,
or in the belly of a whale.

What qualifications did he have? Lets see, stubbornness, rebellion, ignorance are at the top of the list. What could we possibly learn from the belly of a whale:

When God chose leaders and preachers in the Old Testament, and when Jesus chose disciples in the New Testament, he took rough, tough, unlearned men and equipped them to do his work. Education and other character flaws, especially the Apostle Paul, God used the circumstances of life to grind it out of them. He had to empty them of themselves and their self will before He could use them. He had to make
room in their lives for the truth, and they learned to tell the truth through shipwreck, stonings, beatings, in great perils, thrown in jail, hunger, being hunted by presidents, I mean kings; the truth is this:

Jonah is an example of the kind of person God uses, just a normal, stubborn, average guy. God did not look for some silver tongued, musically inclined,
good looking, seminary trained, golfing buddy, robot team player. No, He uses people just like you and I, not too smart, not too great, just normal, Jonah-like
people. And that is a good thing. Can I get an Amen?
