O.J. Simpson won a small victory Wednesday in his bid for freedom as Nevada granted him parole on some of his convictions in a 2008 kidnapping and armed robbery involving the holdup of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel room.
But the decision doesn't mean Simpson will be leaving prison anytime soon. Because he was convicted on multiple charges, Simpson still faces at least four more years in prison on sentences that were ordered to run consecutively
The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners on Wednesday released an order approving the former NFL star's parole request.
Simpson appeared before a two-member parole panel last Thursday to plead for leniency. He expressed regret for his actions and said he's tried to be a model inmate while behind bars.

Things About Diamonds Everyone Should Know
‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend’, is a line we have often heard, there are a number of reasons diamonds have fascinated us down centuries. There are plenty of facts about diamonds that would intrigue one and all. We have tried to list some of them below, so you better understand what makes this sparkling piece of rock so desirable.
- For starters, diamonds are nothing but pieces of carbon, that due to extreme pressure exerted on them over millions of years turn into shiny, sparkly stones we are so familiar with.
- Obviously, you can imagine what such extreme pressure exerted in the making of a diamond can do. The atoms within the diamond bond so tightly due all the pressure, that it makes a diamond one of the hardest substances known to man. A diamond’s durability has appealed to man as much as its beauty has.
- Many of you probably didn’t know that the diamond got its name from the Greek. Its name was derived from the Greek word ‘adamas’, which means unbreakable, beautiful, unalterable. A name befitting the qualities that this exquisite piece of rock has.
- It is said that diamonds were first mined in India, thousands of years ago. In fact, some historians claim that it was as early as 6000 years ago that the existence of diamonds was first known. While many others dispute this claim and place the time at around 3000 years ago.
- In the last 200 years the popularity of diamonds rose the most. This is mainly because of improved polishing and cutting techniques that were created by man. Modern man then began categorizing and valuing diamonds based on the cut, clarity, color and carat. One of the most interesting characteristics of this fascinating rock is the dispersion of white light that it causes, when the light passes through it. The resultant spectral colors are truly fascinating to witness.
- It would interest you to know that the word ‘paragon’ is used to describe a flawless diamond and it is also a word we use to usually describe a person of flawless character. It only goes to show how closely humankind has come to identify itself with this piece of rock.
- Interestingly, you would be wrong if you thought that diamonds are a gift to us only from Mother Earth. Turns out, there are also diamonds called ‘carbanado’ which are a result of the meteorites that crashed from space onto the earth’s surface millions of years ago. The diamonds that are excavated in Africa and South America are usually carbanado diamonds. The scientific community has yet to reach a consensus on how exactly these carbanado diamonds were created.
- If you were curious about when the first diamond was gifted by a man to a woman, you would be surprised to know that it wasn’t that long ago. The first known record of such a gift is about 600 years old, when in 1477 Mary of Burgundy was given a diamond by the Archduke of Austria.
- Although the US hardly produces any gemstones, it is the largest buyer of gem quality diamonds in the world.
- Diamonds are available in a number of colors like brown, blue, green, orange, red, pink and black. But, most commonly a diamond is available in pale yellow.
- Even Rome which was the most advanced civilization of its time, couldn’t help but be bitten by the diamond bug. Romans wore diamonds as talismans to ward off bad luck, which is a tradition they are said to have derived from the Indians.

LIFE IN THE ASYLUM - THE GOP AND THE ZIMMERMAN TRIAL
ZIMMERMAN TRIAL
The Nation (or much of it) recently watched the Florida trial of George Zimmerman to its conclusion. Zimmerman, a volunteer neighborhood watch member, was physically attacked by a 17 year-old, athletic and experienced "ground and pound" street fighter (or an angelic 12 year-old lover of Skittles merely walking home, if you accept the non-evidentiary version). The Skittles lover cold-cocked the non-athletic Zimmerman, knocked him to the ground, jumped on top of him and began pounding Zimmerman's face and head until he was within legitimate fear for his life. Zimmerman managed to gain access to his pistol and squeezed off a single round, killing his attacker. A more clear-cut self defense scenario would be hard to imagine, as the local police and prosecutors properly concluded in declining to prosecute. This left the innocent Zimmerman right where he belonged, at Point A.
But welcome to America in 2013, where the Party of the Left has taught us for decades that there are no such things as "facts" but only "points of view." At times we believe that we have another party, sometimes called "Republicans," to theoretically keep our Country on the right track. How is that working out?
Soon the usual voices of reason (e.g., The "Reverend" Al Sharpton and the New Black Panther Party's Malik Zulu Shabbaz) decended on Florida demanding "justice" for the attacker. This was the perfect opportunity for the "Justice" Department, that magnificent voice of reason Eric Holder, large quantities of taxpayer money, and protests, some of them violent. "Justice," of course, required the local Police Chief to be fired.
Enter the Republicans. Al Sharpton, Malik Zulu Shabbaz, and the like were loudly demanding a special prosecutor for Zimmerman, in effect also firing the local prosecutors. Florida Governor Rick Scott, a Republican, saw no alternative than to acceed to the demands of such fine people, so he appointed Angela Corey as special prosecutor. Why would a Republican governor do such a thing? How many Democrat governors would appoint a special prosecutor because a Tea Party, Pro-Life,
or NRA group was loudly demanding it?
Nor did Angela Corey just drop out of the sky. She had developed quite a negative reputation before "our" governor, no doubt after an exhaustive search, appointed her to pursue Zimmerman. According to National Review, Talbot D’Alemberte, a former president of both the American Bar Association and Florida State University, strongly criticized the appointment: “I cannot imagine a worse choice for a prosecutor to serve in the Sanford case. There is nothing in Angela Corey’s background that suits her for the task, and she cannot command the respect of people who care about justice.”
And she did not disappoint, inter alia presiding over raising Zimmerman's bond to an impossible $1,000,000; indicting Zimmerman's wife for perjury; withholding evidence to which the defense was entitled; attempting to destroy such evidence; and summarily firing the member of her staff who felt an ethical obligation to report such misconduct to the court.
Then there was the "impartial" trial judge, lifelong Democrat Debra Nelson, who could barely conceal her desire for a Zimmerman conviction. She who, inter alia, denied the defense any relief when the wrondoing of Angela Corey was reported to her. She ruled the defense's request for sanctions might be taken up after the trial, thus denying them any use during the trial of important material from Trayvon Martin's cell phone. She then dimwittedly suggested that the defense might not be able to use the material anyway because they couldn't prove the material was put there by Martin, despite him having gone to the extra trouble of putting a double layer of password protection on his very secrified phone.
Who appointed this woman to be a circuit court judge? Florida Governor Jeb Bush, a Republican, who held the office from 1999 through 2007. Why would a Republican make such an appointment? How many Democrat governors would appoint a known lifetime Republican to be a circuit court judge? Jeb is also credited with "reforming" the Florida education system; the Zimmerman trial showcased one of Jeb's most spectacular education "reform" successes in Rachel Jeantel, the trial witness who cannot read or write cursive.
Next the truly awful Eric Holder gets to personally take over the endless pursuit of George Zimmerman. Andrew McCarthy, himself a twenty-year veteran of the "Justice" Department, recently called it "quite amazing that Holder is in a position to do so. His prior tenure as Clinton deputy attorney general — a record of corrupting the pardon process, politicizing the Justice Department (even to the point of arranging commutations for convicted FALN terrorists), and misleading Congress — made it embarrassingly obvious that he was not fit to be attorney general." Yet, many Republican Senators ignored the warnings of McCarthy and others and voted to confirm him. How many? Lets see:
George W. Bush, during his presidency, nominated three Attorney General candidates; the Senate confirmation votes went as follows:
John Ashcroft: 8 Democrats, or 16%, voted Yes
Alberto Gonzales: 6 Democrats, or 14%, voted Yes
Michael Mukasey: 7 Democrats, or 14%, voted Yes
So far during the Obama presidency, the one AG confirmation vote went as follows:
Eric Holder: 19 Republicans, or 46%, voted Yes
In other words, in percentage terms three times as many Republicans feel compelled to vote for the other party's candidate as Democrats do to return the favor. Why, exactly, do we need such "Republicans?"
Thus, thanks to two Republican Governors and 20 Republican Senators (19 Yeas and 1 not voting), the innocent and now officially acquitted George Zimmerman has been moved to Point B, wherein Eric Holder, using the unlimited power and taxpayer funding of the federal government, can spend years trying to indict him for crimes, sue civilly, bankrupt, and destroy the very life of George Zimmerman.
On July 19, 2013, Obama proclaimed to the nation: "Once the jury's spoken, that's how our system works." He did not mention whether he also directed that proclamation to his underling, Eric Holder. God help us all.

Detroit Files for Bankruptcy
From the AP:
Detroit on Thursday became the largest city in U.S. history to file for bankruptcy, as the state-appointed emergency manager filed for Chapter 9 protection.
Kevin Orr, a bankruptcy expert, was hired by the state in March to lead Detroit out of a fiscal free-fall and made the filing Thursday in federal bankruptcy court.
A number of factors - most notably steep population and tax base falls - have been blamed on Detroit's tumble toward insolvency.
Detroit lost a quarter-million residents between 2000 and 2010. A population that in the 1950s reached 1.8 million is struggling to stay above 700,000. Much of the middle-class and scores of businesses also have fled Detroit, taking their tax dollars with them.
Orr was unable to convince a host of creditors, the city's union and pension boards to take pennies on the dollar to help facilitate the city's massive financial restructuring.

The Psychological Side of Online Poker
Online poker can be a great way to realize your poker hobby without having to pay to play at other venues. In addition to this, you can often enjoy the same level of play in the comfort of your own home. However, many players engage in this style of competition without giving much consideration to the psychological side of the online game. For some users, this variation on the game meshes well with their style in a traditional setting. For others, the transition is not as seamless. Making sure you understand the nuances of playing online will keep your game in peak condition and allow you to make the most of your play time.
Preparing For an Online Session
Before you even begin playing Texas Hold'em, or one of the other online offerings, keep in mind that what you do before you log on to the site can affect your ability to properly compete. Having a bad mental outlook can cause you to play erratically or against your normal strategy. This can have dire consequences in many circumstances. For serious players, this is unacceptable and counterproductive.
Before signing on, try and relax yourself or take note of your current attitude. If you have recently been upset or angered, perhaps it is not the right time to play. Otherwise, you may regret how the session turns out. Conversely, keep in mind that overly exuberant feelings can cause you to play recklessly as well. Feeling overjoyed and assuming that luck is on your side is not a sound strategy. Ensure that you have a measured approach to the game. This will allow you to implement your game plan to the best of your abilities.
Understanding Other Players
Unlike a physical setting, it may be hard to read other players. Not knowing the mental state of the person on the other end of the connection can leave you feeling confused and unsure in the face of erratic or questionable moves. With the mask of anonymity, some players fall away from a traditional style. However, you can overcome this impediment by looking for signs and patterns. If a player always waits until the last moment of his allotted time for a big hand, you know to fold or avoid big raises. Simple cues like this can mean the difference between becoming frustrated with others and winning multiple hands.
Keeping Yourself Calm
In the face of an unpredictable player or a session in which luck seems to be against you, keeping calm will be your best bet at getting things back on track. In many online poker rooms removing yourself from the table and joining again later is perfectly acceptable. While this may not be allowed in higher stakes game, a more casual room will grant you this flexibility. Engaging this option will allow you to walk away from the screen and do something that will calm your nerves, like grabbing a drink or using the restroom. If you don't wish to leave the table, skipping a turn or folding a hand to get a small break may be enough.
Another sound psychological approach to online poker is to maintain a strategy. Under this system you will have a focused plan of attack. Of course when dealing with bad breaks and other random occurrences you may wish to step away from the plan. However, doing so could compromise your demeanor if luck continues to work against you. Knowing that you are doing everything according to a strong plan can help ease your nerves when others find lucky draws or other unusual outcomes. If you find yourself unable to adhere to a plan, consider leaving the online room and trying again later. Bad luck happens to everyone, but how you deal with it could improve your chances of bouncing back.

Vote in our Poll: Will there be Riots After the Zimmerman Trial Verdict if Zimmerman if Found Innocent?
Who is on the Zimmerman Trial Jury?
The sequestered jury of six women - all but one of them white - will have to sort through a lot of conflicting testimony from police, neighbors, friends and family members.
Jurors deliberated for three and a half hours when they decided to stop Friday evening. About two hours into their discussions, they asked for a list of the evidence. They will resume deliberations Saturday morning.
Witnesses gave differing accounts of who was on top during the struggle, and Martin's parents and Zimmerman's parents both claimed that the voice heard screaming for help in the background of a 911 call was their son's.

Social Media Saves Life of Unborn Baby with Down's
The Church decided to use social media to try and find a couple that would open their hearts and their homes to a special needs child for a lifetime.
“There is a couple in another state who have contacted an adoption agency looking for a family to adopt their Down Syndrome unborn baby. If a couple has not been found by today they plan to abort the baby. If you are interested in adopting this baby please contact Fr. VW IMMEDIATELY. We are asking all to pray for this baby and the wisdom that this couple realize the importance of human life and do not abort this beautiful gift from God.”The response they received was overwhelming to the point they had to call in volunteers to help field all the calls and emails that they received; more than 900 emails and a phone that rang off the hook all day. People did open their hearts to that precious unborn baby who was facing imminent death through a late term abortion.
They have narrowed it down to three families and the couple, along with a adoption agency, are screening these couples to make a decision as who would be best able to raise this child with the love and dignity it deserves.
One of the many things that is told to people out there is that no one will adopt a special needs child. That simply isn't true. Many families out there have raised children of their own, and for whatever reason feel a calling to raise a special needs child after being so blessed with other children. Some families have been in a waiting line that can sometimes stretch by years waiting for "healthy" child and realize that they can love a child with Down's just as easily as they would love a "normal" baby. In fact, many people realize that adoption is a much easier process if they are willing to take children that may be a little older, bi-racial, or special needs. They want to love a child and to have a family.
Raising a child with special needs is more challenging, but the rewards of it are great.
The next time a pro-choice person insists that pro life people aren't interested in helping children once they are born, this will give them some pause. If you find yourself in a situation that you are daunted by, just go to your local church and talk to them. They will help find you a family that will not only raise your child, but love them unconditionally.
God Bless this couple for reaching out and looking for another solution before ending the life of their baby and bless the people who stepped up and reached out to give a home to child in need.
This is how you change hearts and minds about abortion.

IRS 'Mistakenly' Posts 100,000 Social Security Numbers to Gov't Website
From the New York Post:
The IRS mistakenly posted the Social Security numbers of tens of thousands of Americans on a government website, the agency confirmed Monday night. One estimate put the figure as high as 100,000 names.
The numbers were posted to an IRS database for tax-exempt political groups known as 527s and first discovered by the group Public.Resource.org.
The California-based group said it learned of the "privacy breach" Tuesday while working on an unrelated audit of an “improperly vetted shipment” of IRS data on DVDs and promptly informed the agency, which shut down the site the next day.

Rick Perry Will Not Seek Reelection
From the Washington Post:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) announced Monday that he will not seek reelection in 2014.
“The time has come to pass on the mantle of leadership,” he said at a rally in San Antonio. “Today, I’m announcing I will not seek reelection as governor of Texas.”
Perry has served as governor since 2000, when then-Gov. George W. Bush (R) became president. Perry was elected to full terms in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
Perry also alluded to a potential 2016 presidential run, saying he will “pray and reflect and work to determine my own future path.”
Since his 2012 presidential bid floundered – capped off by his “oops” moment at a presidential debate — Perry has eyed a second run.

LIFE IN THE ASYLUM
On January 24, 2012, this writer posted a column entitled Is The Republican Party Worth Saving? Please feel free to reread it. Unfortunately that question now seems to answer itself.
It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words (see above).
|
that it was such a bipartisan effort. Today’s Republicans define a bill as “bipartisan” when, as here, zero (0) Democrats cross the aisle to vote against what Harry Reid wants, while fourteen (14)
Republicans cross the aisle to vote with Harry.
for the Senate in 2010 vigorously seeking and accepting the support of the Tea Party. The internet is filled with video of Rubio at that time proclaiming how unthinkable it would be to pass an amnesty
bill, and promising that no immigration bill would get his vote without ironclad border security provisions before any talk of legalization. Then he was assigned to the Gang of Eight, and things
changed dramatically. It appears his job was to, smoothly and bursting with smiles, persuade every Republican in either House of Congress that a “comprehensive” “immigration” “reform” bill was
absolutely essential right now!
Please note two things: Napolitano doesn’t have to hire a single “additional” Border Patrol Agent for eight years; and, we have to scroll down to the “Construction” at Subsection (d) of SEC. 1102 to see that they don’t really have to all be ‘additional:”

Civil War Looms as Egypt Dissolves into Violence
From the Wall Street Journal:
Two days after Egypt's military replaced the country's president, it sent soldiers into the streets to quell demonstrations, as a week of tensions between Islamists and the military transformed into deadly confrontations that heightened some Egyptians' fears of civil war.
Demonstrations turned bloody Friday as hundreds of thousands of Muslim Brotherhood supporters turned out to protest this week's military-led ouster of President Mohammed Morsi. Muslim Brotherhood officials said police opened fire on protesters in the Cairo suburb where Mr. Morsi and 12 aides were being held under house arrest, killing five people. The military denied those allegations.
Later in the day, armored personnel carriers arrived on the October 6 bridge, near Tahrir Square, to restore order after rival camps clashed with rocks, fireworks and, according to several witnesses, gunfire from automatic weapons.
At least 30 people died in violence across the country, with another 1,076 injured, officials said.

John Paul II to Become Saint
Pope Francis cleared John Paul II for sainthood on Friday, approving miracles attributed to the late pontiff.
Pope John Paul II's first approved miracle was the healing of a French nun, Sister Marie Simon-Pierre. Her recovery from Parkinson’s disease after praying for the late pontiff's intersession offered no medical explanation, according to the Vatican. The healing was confirmed as a miracle just six months after the pope's death in 2005.
The second miracle is said to have occurred on May 1, 2011 – the night of John Paul’s beatification ceremony in St. Peter’s Square – and was the healing of a Costa Rican woman.
On Tuesday, Italian news agency ANSA reported that a Vatican congregation of cardinals and bishops had credited John Paul with the second miracle.

Therefore this week is the lowest MH prices ever! At the same time MH raised the prices to their resellers such as ourselves. Last week we placed and received our largest MH order ever. So not onlr are the the bets prices ever, but they are all brand new and fresh. What an opportunity for customers.
