CNN Pundit: Obama's Speeches "A Lot Like Sex... Excellent!"

In what can only be described as one of the worst analogies in CNN history, Alex Castellanos compared Barack Obama's State of the Union speech to sex.

Speaking to Anderson Cooper alongside other political commentators such as Newt Gingrich, Castellanos decided to make a candid statement about how he saw the President's SOTU, as well as an over-arching statement about Mr. Obama's oratory skill.

"I think I said before," Castellanos began, "I think a speech by Barack Obama is a lot like sex: the worst there ever was is still excellent!"

The look on Newt Gingrich's face more or less sums up what most people were thinking when they heard the statement from Castellanos:
Gingrich
Naturally, my first question is why even equate Barack Obama's use of language to intercourse? Why not, say, pizza? Or egg rolls?

Second, are Barack Obama's speeches that great? Really? That someone on CNN has to compare it to organisms? Then again, over on another network, thrills have been known to go up legs when Mr. Obama speaks.

If you want to watch the segment below (and feel the need to cringe), please go ahead:

Review: "Mitt," a Documentary by Netflix

This past week, Netflix released "Mitt," a behind-the-scenes documentary about former governor and former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

"Mitt" is not focused on the strategies that go into running for President. It is, instead, a quiet look at Romney the man. How did Romney deal with defeat? How does Romney interact with his family? And indeed, it is a quiet look; there is no narrator, instead opting for simple text when the date changes. Anyone who followed the races in 2008 and 2012 will be able to follow along.

So, how is "Mitt?" It is good. Nearly great. And very interesting throughout.
Mitt Documentary
Who Romney is behind-the-scenes stands in stark contrast to the demonized "vulture capitalist" portrayed by many liberal media outlets. Romney comes across as a man who ran for President not because he wanted power, but forced by his belief that he could offer more to the country than Barack Obama.

Further, the movie only quickly glances at Ann Romney's battle with multiple sclerosis. And yet in those few minutes, it shows the derision that Ms. Romney received from the Left for her affinity for horses and elevators, not as deserved, but cruel and untruthful.

Something that stuck out to me was the tremendous disconnect between how the media portrayed the Romney family and how they actually are. It worried me that so-called journalists would vilify Romney, yet the Romney family was unable to dispel these untruths. It points to the power that the news and biased reporters have on shaping public perception of a man.
Romney
Indeed, reading through reviews, people of liberal persuasions try to damn Romney with faint praise, unable to understand what this quiet documentary shows.

Alessandra Stanley chortles in the New York Times, "Mr. Romney is likable in this depiction. But little in Mitt suggests that he is also electable." Such dense analysis of the film is almost breath-taking. One of the greatest cries of the Left during the 2012 election was that Romney was heartless; rarely was his ability to manage something called into question.

The fact that Romney is shown to be, in fact, the opposite of what people like Ms. Stanley portrayed him as is the whole point. Mitt Romney is a human being deserving of respect, something that the Left tried to rob him of in 2012.

And his so-called lack of humanity, as well as his ability to energize his conservative base, was the downfall of Mr. Romney's bid in this past Presidential election. But then again, "Mitt" does not delve into this muddle. And for what the documentary is, it is was wise move.

Ukrainian PM Says Protesters Launching Coup

Hyperbole by pro-Russia Prime Minister Mykola Azarov as protests get violent in the streets of the capital.
"All those who support this coup should say clearly, 'Yes, we are for the overthrow of the legitimate authorities in Ukraine', and not hide behind peaceful protesters."

He was quoted as saying the unrest, in which three people on the side of the protesters have been killed, made it "absolutely unrealistic" to held an early presidential vote. The next presidential vote is to be held in spring 2015.

Despite Media's Best Effort, Christie Polling Numbers Still Strong

Another poll has New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's polling in New Jersey at nearly 60%. Now on the national level, the vitriolic reaction from the media has not hurt him as much as they would have liked.
According to the survey, 18 percent of American adults say the scandal makes them like Christie less, compared with 5 percent who say it makes them like him more.

But a whopping 69 percent say it hasn’t changed their opinion of the New Jersey governor.

Still, a combined 71 percent of respondents say they know either “a lot” or “some” about the story.

In addition, a plurality – 44 percent – believe Christie is mostly telling the truth, 33 percent say he’s not and another 23 percent are unsure.

Breaking: Adam Lanza Was a Real Weirdo

I don't think we needed much more explanation for this, but apparently he called up a radio station to talk about that chimpanzee that ripped off a person's face. And was a real weirdo about it.
"His attack can be seen entirely parallel to the attacks and random acts of violence that you bring up on your show every week, committed by humans, which the mainstream also has no explanation," Lanza says of Travis.

"I just ... don't think it would be such a stretch to say that he very well could have been a teenage mall shooter or something like that."

Bomb Kills 3 in Lebanon on Same Day Major Trial Opens

A major trial revolving around the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Harriri is starting today. The trial is likely to point the finger at elements of the Syrian government and Hezbollah. On the same day a blast killed three. It may have been retaliation against the Shia community.
The bombing is the latest in a string of attacks in civilian areas across Lebanon that many have interpreted as targeting groups backing opposite sides in the civil war in neighboring Syria. Hermel is a primarily Shiite town and Hezbollah, the Shiite militant group and political party that supports the Syrian government, has a strong presence there.

Connecticut Man Posts Video Of His Marijuana Garden Online, Gives Name And Address, Gets Arrested

A Connecticut man is in over his head after an extremely bone-headed move.

William Bradley, 46, was arrested by Clinton police after posting a video of his own personal marijuana garden on YouTube. Even dumber, Bradley included both his full name and his home address in the video which, unsurprisingly, led police straight to his door.

The video is called "William Bradley - Hope Garden." It begins with Bradley saying:
"Hi everyone. Welcome back to my garden. Hi. My name is William Bradley. My PO Box is 14. My hometown is Westbrook, Connecticut, zip code 06498. And welcome to my beautiful garden...

"I want you to help me. I need your donations so I can... uh, help people out."

Bradley later gives his address and PO Box again.

After seeing the video, police investigated Bradley, obtained a search warrant, then searched his residence. To no one's surprise, they found a large amount of drugs and Bradley was arrested.
William Bradley
According to The Courant of Connecticut:
Police said they seized more than 2 pounds of marijuana, more than 20 grams of hashish, two bags of cocaine, 4 Oxycodone pills, $1,017 in cash and drug paraphernalia, such as packaging materials.

Bradley now faces a number of drug-related charges.

What To Do If You Are Accused of DUI

For those who have been recently charged with a DUI, it is no lightweight charge you can just dismiss on your own. DUI charges are extremely serious charges - they can result in jail time.

DUIs are frequently given for those under the influence of alcohol, but this is a misconception. Any consciousness-changing material that will leave one incapable of driving, including prescription drugs, is considered DUI. DUI charges were once considered comparatively mild violations, but this has transformed in recent decades. Now, a DUI charge requires the help of a criminal lawyer in every case - even if it is your first violation.

When you are pulled over for suspicion of DUI: Cooperate, but exercise your right to remain silent. If you're pulled over for suspicion of DUI, the authorities will typically offer you a number of field sobriety evaluations (reciting the alphabet, walking heel to toe for many measures) that will help "show" or "disprove" your present state of intoxication/deterioration. Generally speaking, most lawyers recommend that you NOT take the field sobriety test. This is because many of the tests are so hard, and so open to interpretation, that they will most likely hurt your chances of being set free. It is much better to take a breathalyzer test.

Work with all the authorities and follow their directions, but *promptly* exercise your right to remain silent should you be put under arrest and read your Miranda rights. Don't say anything additional to anyone and hire a criminal attorney who understands DUI. He or she'll guide you on the most appropriate course of action at that point.

You'll need a skilled criminal lawyer on your side, from the very start of your own case! If you're innocent of your DUI charges, you might believe you don't need a criminal attorney. Sadly, this is simply not accurate. It's no mistake that when you are read your Miranda rights, you're told, "Anything you say can and will likely be utilized against you in a court of law." That holds true if you're innocent, too. For example, you must *never* give cops interviews unless your attorney exists. He or she'll shelter you from making errors that could undermine your case and perhaps even result in real conviction despite your innocence.

Criminal lawyers will guide you through court procedures, and shield your rights. When you go to court, it’s not just about deciding your innocence or guilty. It’s about which side presents the most powerful, and convincing case. Will the prosecutor establish their case and "win," or will your criminal lawyer?

When you have an experienced criminal lawyer on your side in court, you've got the most effective weapon potential to get your DUI charges dismissed. Your attorney will present the facts of your case to the judge or jury compellingly, succinctly, and certainly. The prosecutor will also do his or her best to try and establish your guilt, but in skilled hands, the facts speak quantities. A seasoned criminal lawyer can help you establish your innocence and place this behind you.

Getting a DUI is not only stressful, but also expensive. The expenses come from not just posting bail, and paying legal fees, but also from taking off time from your job to fulfill your sentence. The national average cost of a DUI is around $10,000 – but can be higher, depending on the severity.

For example, in a state like New York, the average cost of a first time DUI can range from $6000 to $10000

Here are some of the costs you’ll have to endure in a state like New York

1. Minimum Fine - $500

2. Auto Insurance Increase, $2600 - $6000

3. Penalty Assessment $175

4. State Restitution Fund - $100

5. Alcohol abuse Education Fund - $50

6. Blood/Breath Testing Fee - $37

7. Jail Cite and Release Fee - $10

8. Driving/Alcohol Awareness School - $175

9. License Reissue Fee $75

10. Attorney Fees (average) - $4000 If you're guilty and/or certainly are a "repeat offender"

Eventually, if you're guilty of your DUI charges and/or have previous DUI convictions, a criminal attorney will make sure that you are represented correctly on your trial and can work to reduce or dismiss any unjust charges, so that you're guaranteed the very best results possible. In many cases, if you are previously convicted of a DUI offense, it will be much harder to prevent a conviction. If it’s your third or fourth time, you will probably go to jail, assuming you are guilty.

Another Apartment Explosion in Minnesota

Less than a week after a massive blast killed three in Minneapolis, another explosion devastated a Minnesota apartment complex. This time, there were no injuries. It appeared that a generator over a propane tank sparked the blaze.

"I thought it was a car that drove into the building. It shook the whole building. It was crazy," Czanstaowski said.

"Suddenly it was just like, boom, and everything shook. It felt like somebody up on top of us, in the apartment above, dropped something like a fridge or stove, hard," Dongoski said.

Sunnis Fight Back Against al Qaeda in Anbar

The Obama Administration has certainly made the hard-earned situation in Iraq significantly worse over the last five years. Anbar province in Iraq became largely peaceful after the Awakening movement and the surge. Now, with al Qaeda seizing parts of Ramadi and Fallujah, it appears that things are in poor shape.

Still, there is some positive momentum as the Sunni sheikhs are rallying against the al Qaeda fighters-- even after they recently repelled an Iraqi army foray into Fallujah. The Iraqi Army is also planning a large force in the province.

What ObamaCare Has Done for One Young Woman

While the friends of ObamaCare seem to try and explain that while millions are losing coverage, at least some are getting better coverage. They argue that the truly sick are now covered under plans that they were not eligible for-- or are now getting it cheaper.

Not the case for one young woman, who says that the program 'raped her future.'

“I have asthma, ulcers, and mild cerebral palsy. Obamacare takes my monthly rate from $75 a month for full coverage on my “Young Adult Plan,” to $319 a month. After $6,000 in deductibles, of course,” Dionne wrote in the Facebook post.
“Liberals claimed this law would help the poor. I am the poor, the working poor, and I can’t afford to support myself, let alone older generations and people not willing to work at all.”

Awful.

Sebelius: 2013 Was a Banner Year for HHS, ObamaCare, Government

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius announced in a new video that 2013 was a superb year for HHS, the Affordable Care Act, and big government's involvement in the heath care industry.

In the video, entitled "The 2013 HHS Year in Review," Sebelius explained how great things are going. As melodic acoustic guitars played in the background, she stated:
"Our efforts to implement the Affordable Care Act are protecting millions of Americans with new rights and benefits... And by opening up the health insurance marketplace, we've put affordable coverage within reach of millions more Americans. There's new choice and new competition."

Sebelius
You might be wondering if Sebelius mentioned the website catastrophes, millions of people losing their plans, or President Obama's (and her) numerous lies. She did... by white-washing them in less than a complete sentence:
"Now, after some early difficulties, healthcare.gov is working smoothly. Americans are now shopping for plans, enrolling for coverage online, on paper, over the phone, in person, and directly through insurers, agents, and brokers."

The video then showed all the things the government has been doing to help individuals who, the video portrays, can hardly find their way without government intervention. Finally, the video ends with your average plug of the HHS website.

You can watch the video in is entirety below:

Wonderful Show of Cory Booker's Newark

Cory Booker seems like an awfully nice guy and did a few good things for the city of Newark, New Jersey while Mayor, including standing up to the teacher's unions. However, his overall record is lacking-- especially compared to the aura that has been built up around him. Officials are concerned about an increase in carjackings in the city.

carjacking-2-popup
In 2007, there were 208 reported carjackings in all of New Jersey. In 2012, there were 345 in Newark alone, 56 of which took place in December, according to the Newark police.

Already this year, there had been 475 carjackings in Essex County as of Friday, the vast majority of those in Newark, according to the Essex County prosecutor’s office. In contrast, New York City had seen 159 carjackings this year as of Friday, and there has been a general decline over the last five years, the Police Department said.

One law enforcement official in New Jersey, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, likened the trend in Newark to a “ride-share program” for criminals.

China Carrier Returns After First Voyage

China's first aircraft carrier returned to port after its first voyage to the South China Sea. The Liaoning made it back after a brief scare. One of its escorts almost hit an American warship in international waters. It's a large step for the Chinese, who are prepping a second carrier.chinacarrier

It was the Liaoning's first long-distance training mission since being commissioned last year, amid concerns about China's growing naval power. The official Xinhua news agency said the carrier "underwent a comprehensive test of its combat system and conducted a formation practice."

Xinhua quoted unnamed naval sources as saying the 37-day trip "attained the anticipated objectives," and that all tests "went well as scheduled."

Michael Moore: "ObamaCare is Awful," Yet "A Godsend"

Michael Moore, the habitual liar, has taken to the New York Times to declare that “Obamacare is awful,” yet also a "godsend." Writing an article in the NYT, entitled “The Obamacare we deserve,” Moore denounced the President’s signature legislation, then encouraged it.

The law's awfulness is the Left's "dirty little secret," Moore says. He continued that, instead of righteously blaming "corporations" for much of the problems, Democrats instead over-promised and under-delivered.

Eventually, Moore reveals the law's "fatal flaw:"
I believe Obamacare’s rocky start — clueless planning, a lousy website, insurance companies raising rates, and the president’s telling people they could keep their coverage when, in fact, not all could — is a result of one fatal flaw: The Affordable Care Act is a pro-insurance-industry plan implemented by a president who knew in his heart that a single-payer, Medicare-for-all model was the true way to go.

Moore then complains about exploding insurance costs and how the idea for ObamaCare originated.

In classic Moore style, however, he begins talking out of the other side of his mouth just a few sentences later when he states, unironically, "Obamacare is a godsend." He explains that he knows of people, previously uninsured, who now have coverage.
Michael Moore
And more important to Moore: it is also a stepping stone for his ultimate desire: universal, single-payer, government-controlled health care. "In blue states, let’s lobby for a public option on the insurance exchange — a health plan run by the state government, rather than a private insurer," he advises.

Moore finishes his op-ed declaring that people need to push their politicians to supporting increasing government control over their health care.

Chrysler Now Entirely Owned by Fiat

Not entirely earth-shaking in and of itself, but the rest of Chrysler's public shares were purchased by the Italian car maker Fiat-- finishing the purchase of the entire company. Fiat already owned the majority of the shares but picked up the remaining 41.5% from the UAW for $3.65 billion.fiatchrysler

“The unified ownership structure will now allow us to fully execute our vision of creating a global automaker that is truly unique in terms of mix of experience, perspective and know-how, a solid and open organization,” Marchionne said in a statement issued by Turin, Italy-based Fiat.

The deal eliminates the need for an initial public offering of the union fund’s stake, which analysts had previously valued at $5.6 billion.

Beyonce Shows Tremendous Class with New Album

Boy, this surely won't affect Beyonce's record sales at all, but she has made an astoundingly distasteful choice in her new album. She used audio from the Challenger space shuttle disaster... which NASA is not pleased with.

The song, which features on the singer’s eponymous new album, begins with a six-second clip taken from the accident, in which Steve Nesbitt – NASA’s public affairs officer at the time – states, “Flight controllers here are looking very carefully at the situation. Obviously a major malfunction.” The Challenger exploded shortly after lift off on its ’86 mission, killing all seven people on board.

Three Blasts Rock Mogadishu

At least 11 are dead after three blasts hit a hotel in Mogadishu. The first was a car bomb, followed by an explosion that targeted emergency services, followed by another an hour later.
"A booby-trapped car exploded against Hotel Jazeera," Muhidin Ahmed, a police officer, said referring to the first blast, adding that it caused an unspecified number of deaths.

"It appears to be a suicide attack."

There was an intense gun battle that followed the blasts.

Sharon's Health Deteriorating

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's health has taken a turn for the worse. In a coma since 2006, Sharon has been unresponsive and now appears to be showing his 85 years.
Amir Marom, a spokesman for Tel Hashomer hospital, where Sharon has been treated for most of the past eight years, said Wednesday that Sharon's medical condition has "deteriorated in the past few days." He refused to elaborate. Contacted by The Associated Press, Sharon's son, Omri, refused to comment.

Channel 10 TV reported that Sharon was suffering from kidney problems, and was in a life-threatening condition. In September, Sharon underwent surgery to insert a new feeding tube.

Explosion Rocks Minneapolis Apartment Complex over Arab Grocery

An explosion rocked an apartment building in Minneapolis, Minnesota today, injuring 13 people. The apartment, which was inhabited by single men, exploded this morning. The bitterly cold temperatures may have made the situation even worse:

Freutel called the blaze “a deep-seated fire” in dangerous conditions. Fire hoses freeze, and nozzles and hydrants also can freeze up while the water used to quell the blaze quickly turns to ice underfoot in the 4-below zero temperature. Firefighters were spreading salt on the street in front of the building to improve traction.

The explosion took place over a Halal grocery in a portion of the city dominated by Arab immigrants:

Ismail Adan, 34, has lived in the building since 2002 and left shortly before the fire. He said his mother had called him early in the morning and he left to visit her, but a cousin who was staying with him was in the third-floor apartment when the explosion occurred. He said the cousin leapt from the window and was injured but he has spoken with him in the hospital.

“He’s OK. It’s not very serious,” Adan said.

The apartment complex is next to a mosque and the owner of the building could not be contacted.

The building is managed by Wadani Properties of Minneapolis, which is owned by Garad Nor, according to Minneapolis and Secretary of State records. Attempts to reach Nor have not been successful.

Blast Kills Palestinian Diplomat in Czech Republic

Some surprising but unsurprising news out of Eastern Europe. An explosion in the home of the diplomat Jamal al-Jamal mortally wounded him and he died four hours later. Jamal is from the PLO-dominated Palestinian Authority and not from the Hamas-dominated administration of Gaza.

It may have been an accident, though:
Mr Jamal had only recently moved into the property.

Palestinian officials have been quoted as saying the blast took place when Mr Jamal attempted to move a safe from an old embassy building to the new one.

"The device was in a safe and was triggered after the door of the safe was opened. The police are not ruling out that the device was a part of the safe," Czech police spokeswoman Andrea Zoulova told Reuters.

Advanced Smugfest at DeBlasio Swearing in

Liberals in New York City have been waiting 20 years for this day. For the first time in that period, a Democrat has taken office as the city's mayor. Yes, there was Michael Bloomberg, but even he had a few redeeming qualities. Now with Bill DeBlasio taking office we can see a lot of smug people just telling everyone how wrong the rest of the country is.
