Iranian Official: Jews Used Sorcery Against Iran

From the JPost:
An official close to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused Jews of using sorcery against the Islamic Republic, according to a report on the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

"The Jews have the greatest powers of sorcery, and they make use of this tool," Mehdi Taeb told students at a religious seminary in Ahwaz on April 20.

Taeb blamed the Zionists of being responsible for "all the measures that have been brought against" the Islamic Republic. The Zionists made the US, that is "a tool in their hands," impose the strict economic sanctions on Iran, he said.

The Zionists, he claimed, also used their magic to try to interfere in the 2009 presidential elections in which they attempted to oust Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Report: Israeli Jets Bomb Syrian Chemical Site

From UPI:
The Free Syrian Army says Israeli air force jets flew over President Bashar Assad's palace and bombed a chemical weapons site near Damascus, Maariv reported.

The report said Israeli jets entered Syrian airspace close to 6 a.m Saturday and flew over Assad's palace in Damascus and other security facilities before striking a chemical weapons compound near the city.

The Hebrew language daily said a Syrian army air defense battery positioned in the city fired at the Israeli jets, but the aircraft left Syrian airspace unscathed. FSA rebels posted a video showing smoke rising from the headquarters for chemical weapons.

There were no reports of the extent of damage or casualties.

Neither Damascus nor Jerusalem responded to the report.

Tsarnaev Family Received $100K in Benefits

From the Boston Herald:
The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance — a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned.

“The breadth of the benefits the family was receiving was stunning,” said a person with knowledge of documents handed over to a legislative committee today.

The state has handed over more than 500 documents to the 11-member House Post Audit and Oversight Committee, which today met for the first time and plans to call in officials from the Department of Transitional Assistance to testify.

“I can assure members of the public that this committee will actively review every single piece of information we can find because clearly the public has a substantial right to know what benefits, if any, this family or individuals accused of some horrific crimes were receiving,” said state Rep. David Linsky (D-Natick), the committee’s chairman.

Missiles Fired at Russian Plane with 159 Passengers Onboard Flying Over Syria

From RT:
Two missiles were reportedly fired at a Russian plane with at least 159 passengers on board that was flying over Syrian territory. Russian officials admit the jet faced danger, but are not talking of a targeted attack.

The news broke in on Monday as Interfax, citing “an informed source in Moscow,” reported that a Russian passenger plane was attacked.

“Syrian [officials] informed us that on Monday morning, unidentified forces launched two ground-to-air missiles which exploded in the air very close to a civilian aircraft belonging to a Russian airline,” the source told the Russian agency.

The pilots reportedly managed to maneuver the plane in time however, “saving the lives of passengers.”

It is believed the aircraft was intentionally targeted, “but it remains unclear whether the attackers knew it was Russian or not,” the source added.

Europe Unemployment Hits a New High

The situation in Europe continues to get worse, even as the United States faces a tepid recovery. The Eurozone has faced another new high in unemployment, led by Spain and Greece.
For the 27-nation European Union, the March jobless rate was unchanged, at 10.9 percent. Eurostat estimated that 26.5 million men and women were now unemployed in Europe, including 5.7 million young people.

Both the euro zone and European Union jobless figures are the highest Eurostat has reported since it began keeping the data in 1995 in the days before the euro. In comparison, the unemployment rate in the United States was 7.6 percent in March.

The Amatuer Photography Needs Good Eqipment

My sister is always changing her mind about what she wants to do with her life. Sometimes she wants to move to Brazil and teach dance or music or something, other times she wants to live in the Netherlands and teach English while sampling all the high alcohol content beers. She’s crazy, but my shared blood says I have to love her. Heck, I probably would anyway, she’s a real sweetheart and a fun and funny person to be around. Well, over Christmas, we were talking, and it didn’t take long for her to launch into her old familiar story beginning, the story that starts with, so, I was thinking, I think I know what I really want to focus my energy on. I rolled my eyes, of course, as any sane person would – she saw that and took mild offense.

Even though she knows she’s famous for this kind of opinion changing, she still somehow always gets offended by it. It’s amazing. This time, she was talking about how she really wanted to become a photographer, and she’d even gone so far as to purchase a photography backdrop which she conveniently had in her car. I asked her to show me, and I wasn’t familiar with any brands of backdrops for photography, but the thing looked like it would do the job. We talked, and since I’m in the performing arts, I said well, why don’t you practice and take some head shots for me. We set up a makeshift studio in the garage and she took some photos. Would you believe she had the nerve to charge me – or try to charge me – a hundred dollars? Obviously I said she was out of her mind, and then we had a laugh. She told me she got the equipment at thelashop.com, and that seems like a pretty good place to do that.

Syrian Prime Minister Survives Damascus Car Bomb

Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi was the target of an unsuccessful car bomb earlier today in Damascus, which was placed under a vehicle and detonated while his convoy passed by - several civilians and Halqi's bodyguard were killed in the blast - but he survived, although visibly shaken in an interview on state media.

The blast, which occurred in the Mazzeh district that houses government buildings and an important military airport, must be sending shock waves through the Assad regime right now.

Only four months ago the Syrian rebels successfully bombed the Interior Ministry that killed and wounded prominent members of the regime, and despite that fatal attack on the record, another bomber was able to enter the heart of Damascus and nearly assassinate their Prime Minister.

I wonder what the sensation of walls closing in feels like? Maybe I should give al-Assad a call and ask him.

This struggle has been ongoing for over two years in Syria, with neither side able to overcome the other and reportedly upwards to seventy thousand dead in the cross fire. Rebels control significant portions of Syria, but after briefly assaulting Damascus last summer, have had little success impregnating the ancient City since, leaving the conflict at a stand-still.

I'm not going to repeat myself for the thousandth time, but everyone knows what must be done in order to bring this nasty conflict to an end and prevent the continuing abominable flow of bloodshed.

NBA Center Jason Collins: "I'm Black. And I'm Gay"

From Sports Illustrated:
I'm a 34-year-old NBA center. I'm black. And I'm gay.

I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, "I'm different." If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand.

My journey of self-discovery and self-acknowledgement began in my hometown of Los Angeles and has taken me through two state high school championships, the NCAA Final Four and the Elite Eight, and nine playoffs in 12 NBA seasons.

La Salle High School Shooting: Student Kills Self Inside Classroom

Update: The student is alive and in critical conditions.  Early reports of his death were erroneous.

From CBS:
Police say an Ohio high school student shot himself in front of a classroom of fellow students on Monday morning.

Officers were called to La Salle High School, west of Cincinnati, around 9 a.m. According to CBS affiliate WKRC dispatchers said several students called 911 to report the shooting.

The "young man" was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, police say. His status is unknown. Police say all the other students are safe.

Students at the school are reportedly in the gymnasium and will be reunited with their parents and taken home if they wish.

Explosion in Prauge Injures Dozens, April 29, 2013

From the Guardian:
A powerful explosion has damaged a building in the centre of the Czech capital, Prague, injuring up to 40 people. Authorities said they believed people were buried in the rubble.

Police spokesman Tomas Hulan said it was not certain what caused the blast in Divadelni Street, in Prague's Old Town, at about 10am, but it was likely to have been a natural gas explosion.

The street was covered with rubble and had been sealed off by police, who also evacuated nearby buildings and closed a wide area around the site of the explosion.

Zdenek Schwarz, head of the rescue service in Prague, said up to 40 people were injured, at least four of them seriously.

Tim Tebow Released by Jets

I'm sure Mr. K will be pleased. From NFL.com:
The Tim Tebow error in New York is finally, mercifully over.

NFL.com's Albert Breer reports that Tebow was released by the Jets on Monday morning after one season with the team, according to a source. The New York Post first reported the story. New GM John Idzik insisted on keeping Tebow through the draft in case they could find a trade partner or use for him. After selecting Geno Smith in the second round, Tebow, not Mark Sanchez, is the odd man out.

Tebow threw only eight passes in New York and rushed the ball 32 times. Despite awful quarterback play in front of him, coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano never wanted to use Tebow as a starter. And they had no idea how to use him as a backup. New York wasted a fourth- and sixth-round pick in exchange for Tebow in a trade that smacked of ownership involvement.

Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev Revealed as Possible Suspects in Boston Bombings

Update: Azamat and Dias' Facebook info.

Update: Arrested!

From the Daily Mail:
Friends of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev arrested last week who cruised around in a car with the ‘Terrorista #1’ license plate have also been revealed to be two of the group of friends recently photographed with the Boston Marathon bomber in Times Square.

The two 19-year-old men from Kazakhstan are Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev. They were classmates of bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Authorities say they were detained for immigration violations on April 20 after being questioned in connection with the attack, which occurred a few days earlier.

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva: Facts, Evidence on Boston Bombings are Lies, 9/11 an Inside Job

Clearly, a genius. I can't possibly imagine how her sons grew up to be murderous lunatics. From the AP:
The angry and grieving mother of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects insists that her sons are innocent and that she's no terrorist.

But Zubeidat Tsarnaeva is drawing increased attention after federal officials say Russian authorities intercepted her phone calls, including one in which she vaguely discussed jihad with her elder son. In another, she was recorded talking to someone in southern Russia who is under FBI investigation in an unrelated case, U.S. officials said...

But in recent years, people noticed a change. She began wearing a hijab and cited conspiracy theories about 9/11 being a plot against Muslims.

Tsarnaeva insists there is no mystery and that she's just someone who found a deeper spirituality. She fiercely defends her sons - Tamerlan, who was killed in a gunfight with police, and Dzhokhar, who was wounded and captured.

"It's all lies and hypocrisy," she told The Associated Press in Dagestan. "I'm sick and tired of all this nonsense that they make up about me and my children. People know me as a regular person, and I've never been mixed up in any criminal intentions, especially any linked to terrorism."

George W. Bush has Saved More Lives than any American President

From Fox News:
George W. Bush, not Barack Obama, is the real American hero in Africa.

Take it from me, a liberal Democrat who voted for Obama twice. I know a little about Africa: I have been to the continent 17 times over the last 32 years.

In particular, I have a great interest in South Sudan; I first traveled there in March 2008, and I have been back 13 since...

For five years, now, I have entranced and, yes, haunted by the land and its people. The land is so beautiful, the people are so friendly. And yet they are plagued by many challenges. And some Americans have really stood up to help--most notably, the 43rd President, George W. Bush...

Five million children, women and men have received antiretroviral treatment under PEPFAR. In 2010 alone, 600,000 pregnant mothers received treatment so their newborn children would not be infected.

Yes, millions of people live productive, healthy lives due to Bush 43.

CNN: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Less Talkative After Being Mirandized

I present with no comment:
The Boston bombing suspect has become less talkative since authorities read him his Miranda rights before charging him with using a weapon of mass destruction. They also moved him from a private to a prison hospital.
But the information Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, gave investigators in two sessions of questioning spanning three days has produced good leads, a U.S. law enforcement official said.
Investigators have completed combing a dump in New Bedford, Massachusetts, for clues that could shed light on the suspects behind the bloody attack, said FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller, who wouldn't say whether they turned up anything.
They were looking for Tsarnaev's laptop, a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation said.
Ok, I can't constrain my inner-pundit from commenting.

Is anyone really freaking surprised that a terrorist, once read his miranda rights, would actually stop talking to investigators and end the flow of information exchanged? If you are... You obviously haven't been paying that much attention the past decade that terrorists in general aren't very talkative unless properly persuaded.

McDonald's CEO: We're Considering All-Day Breakfast Menu

In a far-reaching interview with McDonald's CEO Don Thompson, CNBC reporter Carl Quintanilla learned perhaps the most important piece of information ever in human history yesterday morning: McDonald's might be extending their breakfast menu... All. Day. Long.

Thompson said McDonald's has previously looked at ways to expand breakfast menu's for customers, but most importantly stated "Yes, we would consider it. We have the focus on our existing menu, but we have looked at breakfast across the day," which would be the greatest evolutionary step since the creation of the automatic toilet paper dispenser.

Seriously, other world markets have access to Sausage McGriddle's all day long... Why don't we? Are you telling me Saudi Arabian sheikhs can enjoy breakfast in the mid-afternoon while sipping Arabian tea, but we cannot in the land of the free and home of the brave during lunch break? It's only right to have the option of McGriddle's anytime, anywhere.

U.S. Army to Cut Eight Brigades, 72,000 Soldiers by 2017

With a world gripped by chaos: tensions on the Korean peninsula, civil war spiraling into chemical warfare in Syria and instability erupting across the African Continent, most would assume this would be the right time for the strongest and most powerful Army in the world to not only maintain their current strength but continue to advance our force by specialized training and greater weapons development.

But then most would be absolutely incorrect, because Washington D.C. has a debt crisis and of course the most obvious place to cut back is the number of brigades active in the U.S. Army, and as an result 72,000 active-duty soldiers as collateral damage.

I kid you not. The U.S. Army has to eliminate eight brigades by 2017 and reduce our professional, full-time Army from 562,000 to 490,000, with six of the eight brigades to be cut domestically and two from Europe.

I'm not exactly sure what this means for the Army moving forward. Is this the first significant step towards a more technology driven (i.e. drones, cyber warfare, etc.) military at the cost of active personnel, or are they (they = military brass and useless Washington politicians) planning to use cheaper, part-time National Guard units to fill the void?

Either way, the reduction of America's professional Army in favor of relying on technology or Guard soldiers is, at least in my opinion, a great mistake. The threats rising against us and against our allies aren't going away anytime soon, and if the chaos of the past thirteen years is any indicator, probably not in the 21st century. So what sense does it make to decrease the strongest fighting force standing against evil and destruction?

Dare I say it, but none whatsoever.

You would think America is smart enough to learn from our previous mistakes of reducing our Army in peace time, only to be caught off guard and have to quickly mobilize more soldiers then were prepared to, but I digress...

Tsarnaevs Discussed Bombing Times Square

From NBC:
The surviving Boston Marathon suspect has told investigators that he and his brother decided after the attack to set off more of their arsenal — as many as six bombs — in Times Square, authorities in New York said Thursday.

The suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, first told investigators that the brothers were headed for New York to party after the marathon blasts, but he said under later questioning that they changed plans on the fly and intended a second attack there, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters that city officials were informed by the FBI of the turn in the investigation on Wednesday night. City officials were told that “the surviving attacker revealed that New York City was next on their list of targets. He and his brother had intended to drive to New York and detonate additional explosives in Times Square,” he said.

Senior law enforcement officials cautioned to NBC News that the idea was undeveloped. One senior official described the plan as “aspirational at most.”

Manti Te'o Gets Picked by San Diego

From NFL.com:
Manti Te'o waited and waited. Finally, he found a team that couldn't wait to draft him.

The San Diego Chargers traded up to the No. 38 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft to grab the Notre Dame linebacker on Friday night. The Chargers gave up a fourth-round pick just to move up seven spots and grab the inside linebacker.

"It's a perfect scenario....I can't be any happier," Te'o said during a conference call with reporters. "You talk about the Chargers, especially for someone here like me, you think of Junior Seau and what he did there and the legacy that he left behind, not only in San Diego but in the NFL. I'm just excited to be coached by (linebackers coach) Joe Barry and (defensive coordinator) John Pagano, and just help and do whatever it takes to help our team win."

British Five Pound Note to Feature Sir Winston Churchill

Seven decades after Sir Winston Churchill saved the British nation and the free world from Adolph Hitler's genocidal Nazi totalitarianism with his steadfast convictions and unshakable demeanor, he is being featured on Britain's five pound note. Finally I may add.

"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat."
The Churchill bank note will enter circulation in 2016 and his image will replace that of social reformer and early 1800's Christian philanthropist Elizabeth Fry, who has donned the five pound note since 2002.

I hope English school children are taught that the London standing so prominently over Churchill's right side on the note would never have been possible if not for his courageous stand against the forces of darkness, hatred and evil that swallowed Europe whole in the late 1930's, and if not for him, would have captured the British Isles too.

Hillary Clinton Destroys Joe Biden in 2016 New Hampshire Poll

After two election cycles with Barack Obama on top, the Democratic Party is looking for a new standard bearer to lead them into the 2016 presidential election against the young and often inexperienced Republican contenders they will likely face, at least when compared to their own leading candidates.

Hillary 2016 is looking very plausible right about now
And if New Hampshire Democrats are any indicator of their national comrades at all, well... Then they have already made up their minds as to who they want to lead the charge in 2016.

According to a survey of 200 Granite State Democrats, with a 7.1% margin of error, former Secretary of State and U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton would be the choice of 61% of respondents compared to just seven percent for Vice-President Joe Biden and only three percent for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

I guess all hopes of a President Biden are all but shot... Especially when more Democrats (7%) say they wouldn't vote for him under any circumstance than any of his potential opponents.

Granted it's April 2013 and not April 2015, but this should definitely perk Hillary Clinton's ears because if she wants to become the 45th President of the United States... There is absolutely nothing stopping her on her side of the aisle and only time will tell when it comes to the Republican field.

Reason 13,583 Why I Am Not A "Feminist"

Carolyn Lubby, a senior at The University of Connecticut, has written a letter to the president of the university regarding changes to its Husky logo.  Now to be honest she made some good points about the athletics program:
  1. On June 21st 2012, UConn Men’s basketball becomes the first BCS school team to face a postseason ban based solely on low APR (Academic Progress Rate) scores.
  2. On October 6th 2012, Lyle McCombs is arrested on charges of second degree breach of peace for a domestic violence dispute in which he was, “yelling, pushing, and spitting at his girlfriend” during an argument outside a residence hall.
  3. On February 11th 2013, Enosch Wolf is arrested on charges of third degree burglary, first degree criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct when he “refused to leave” a female student’s apartment, “grabbed the hair of the victim and pushed her head” and “knocked the glasses off the victim’s face with his hand.”
  4. On March 21st 2013, Tyler Olander is arrested for trespassing in a structure or conveyance while on Spring Break in Panama City, Florida.
From what I understand about Tyler Olander, he was arrested while on spring break in Florida for being drunk and trespassing on some one's boat. Hardly an offense that has anything to do with rape.  Now, I grew up in CT and my long and tangled college career did start at UCONN, but I was not mature enough for college at the time and it didn't work out.  But, I have always loved UCONN and I have complained that the men's basketball team has put winning before making sure these student athletes graduate college.  They have one of the lowest graduation rates of major universities; at least with their men's basketball team.  I have real issues with the college athletic system.  As an aunt of a student athlete, I have seen how high level college athletics work and the system isn't great and needs reforms.  That is a valid point.  Where she loses me is that she is somehow equating this with the logo and saying the logo represents male aggression towards women and rape.
Well President Herbst, the new Husky logo may not be capable of frightening small children, but the face of real life UConn athletics is certainly capable of frightening college women.
Does this scare you?

Does that face make you want to cower in fear that you are going to be raped?  She is especially upset by this comment:
It is looking right through you and saying, ‘Do not mess with me.’ This is a streamlined, fighting dog, and I cannot wait for it to be on our uniforms and court.~Geno Auriemma stated about the new logo change.
For those that are not aware, Geno Auriemma is the women's basketball coach.  Maybe I am giving him an unwarranted benefit of the doubt, but somehow I don't think Coach Auriemma is looking to put the women on his team in danger.  The Lady Huskies recently were crowned NCAA champions; his eighth championship, call me crazy but he seems to have an interest in making UCONN a program that women want to play for.  If they are afraid for their safety, they are not likely to go to school there no matter how good the program is and how good of a coach he is.

Look, I am not dismissing the amount of rapes that happen on college campuses.  Sadly, it is a relatively common occurrence. It happens all too often, on virtually all campuses across the country.  It is an issue that needs to be dealt with.

But that is one of the reasons that I find her letter so offensive.  Somehow this cartoon like picture of a dog is the reason that men are rapists?  C'mon.

Here is a picture of the old logo:

Now, the dog has been made to look sleeker, but also made to look more realistic as well.
This is the type of thing that actually hurts women, not helps them.  It makes them seem like they are victims cowering at the sight of a cartoon dog.  If this is what feminism is, I pass.  You see I always thought that the reason for feminism was to "empower" women, how exactly is being afraid of a cartoon empowering?  To me, empowering women would be done by teaching them self defense so that they will feel that they can protect themselves if some lunatic tries to attack them.  Evil exists in the world, and changing a logo isn't going to stop that.

But then again I could never put this on my bio, so what do I know?
Carolyn Luby is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies and Spanish and minoring in Latino/a Studies. She is involved in various different feminist groups and violence against women prevention efforts on campus and has particular interest in global feminisms and anti-imperial anti-colonial feminisms.
Anti-imperial, anti-colonial feminisms; why am I not surprised?

CISPA Dies in Senate

From Reason:
A representative of the Senate committee that would have to hold hearings on the cybersecurity bill CISPA, passed last week by the House, said the committee won’t be taking the legislation up, according to U.S. News. President Obama has threatened a veto, though the Democratic chairman of the committee Jay Rockefeller, certainly echoes the administration when he says CISPA is nevertheless important.

The White House’s veto threat, meanwhile, isn’t couched in a call to limit federal power, nor even in a defense of privacy, but to make sure corporations are “held accountable.” The White House is satisfied that the legislation charges the federal government with protecting privacy, essentially policing itself, but also wants corporations to be required to remove certain personal information from data shared with the federal government.

As Expected, Liberals Call for Death of George Bush After Library Opening

Liberals called for the death of George W. Bush in the wake of the opening of the Bush Library on Thursday. I wish I could say this was unexpected from a group of people who have declared themselves "civil," but alas, who was I kidding? Bush Derangement Syndrome is alive and well.

The incredible hatred for George W. Bush is difficult to understand. You might disagree with his policies, but to openly call for killing him? Perhaps it is because these people hate the fact that President Bush, flawed as he was, always loved his country. He made mistakes, but his respect for the United States has never wavered. Maybe that is why the Left hates him so very deeply, deeper than would make sense with mere political disagreements.

Whatever the reason behind their disdain, liberals have no qualms about letting people know how they feel. A quick internet search produces a bevy of death threats and calls for murder of President Bush. Some are very angry:
Some don't really make sense:
And many are your generic, "George Bush should die" garbage that people have grown accustomed to:

In the mean time, all we can do is shake our heads at how unbelievably stupid these people are.

So...New York Traded Revis to Draft Milliner?

Warning: I am about to launch into a full-on football related rant right now.

The New York Jets recently traded Darrelle Revis, the best corner back in all of professional football right now, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two draft picks. How good is Revis? Well, his nickname is "Revis Island" because his section of the field is off limits to opposing offenses and Tampa Bay immediately signed him to a six year ninety-six million dollar contract.

He was essentially the Jets greatest player on their crumbling team and the cornerstone of their defensive machine.

In fact he was the team. With a game plan crafted around defensive might that would make up for one of the league's worst quarterback's and a horrific new offensive scheme to boot, Revis was essential for us to have any chance of winning almost every Sunday.

But we traded him. Boom! Pow! He's gone to the team we have to face in week one of the upcoming nfl season. Bastards at scheduling...

So to annoy me even further, the Jets drafted Dee Milliner last night in the first round of the 2013 player selection meeting (the draft's actual name), who is an Alabama five-star rated corner back: the best one available out of all the players eligible this year.

Why does this annoy me? Well, we drafted Milliner and were likely to sign him to a similar contract as we did Revis, which was to a five year contract worth $36 million, on the exact same premise that he is worth every cent because of his stellar college career and excellent combine performance.,

However, we gave up the league's top defensive player - who is proven to be worth every dime of his record setting $96 million contract and pivotal to our defensive game plan - for a predicted all-around number one corner back coming off his Junior year that will cost us around $40 million easy.

We're taking a significant risk, albeit for a much lower price tag, in our overall game plan. Because we honestly have no idea how Milliner will perform, and if his estimated worth is off by any measure - our general manager and front office team are responsible for not only the elimination of Revis Island - but potentially for giving away the greatest defensive player on our team in decades for just a risk.

And besides we didn't need a freaking corner back!!! We need a damn quarterback, because while a defensive oriented squad is good for Rex Ryan, you actually need to be able to complete a pass more then once in a while...

Ugh.... I hate being a Jets fan

Clearer Picture of Chaotic Shootout in Watertown Emerges

From the Atlantic:
There's a lot we still don't know about what happened in Boston last week. But new details that surfaced on Wednesday night reveal some key details that stand to change the timeline of the final 24 hours of the manhunt dramatically. Among other revelations, police are now saying that they don't believe Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the younger of the two brothers suspected of carrying out the attack, was armed when they opened fire on him Friday evening. In fact, authorities admit that the two brothers didn't quite have the small arsenal of weapons they thought they did — just one gun, a gun that wasn't anywhere near Dzhokhar when he was found in the boat after a shootout.

Much of the new information revealed by authorities is revealed in an ambitious and valuable New York Times story that appears on the front page of the paper Thursday morning, a story that took no less than ten people to put together. In a dependable narrative fashion, the Grey Lady guides us through the instantly chaotic and still confusing events of last Thursday evening, starting with the cold-blooded killing of MIT police officer Sean A. Collier, who was mourned in Cambridge this Wednesday. Law enforcement believes that the Tsarnaev brothers tried and failed to steal Collier's gun after shooting him from behind, the first of several things that went wrong for the two young suspected terrorists that night.

From there, the two carjacked the Mercedes SUV and split up for some reason before ending up in Watertown, where the real action unfolded. Long story short, the latest details raise a few red flags — no, those are not the same as false flags — about authorities' handling of the situation. Why, for instance, was there a shootout between the police and Dzhokhar if the suspect didn't even end up having a gun? Elementary-school crime-solving skills would suggest that police did not know the 19-year-old was unarmed, but an actual investigation will provide a clearer picture of that period of time.

Liberals Mock George W. Bush for Sitting Down in Photo

The mainly liberal site Reddit today upvoted a picture making fun of George W. Bush for sitting down to their "front page:"
And some people wonder how President Obama got reelected when these are the people who voted for him.

Sunil Tripathi Found Dead

From USA Today:
A body pulled from the water off India Point Park in Rhode Island has been identified as the Brown University student mistakenly linked by amateur sleuths on a social media site to the Boston bombings.

The body of 22-year-old Sunil Tripathi was identified through dental records, Health Department spokeswoman Dara Chadwick said Thursday.

It was not immediately clear when Tripathi, who was last seen March 15, died. The cause of death has also not been determined.

Police said that no signs of trauma were found initially and that the investigation could take months.

Tripathi's body was found Tuesday by members of the Brown University crew team.

The Revolution Passed in the Night

Many things are holding the headlines hostage, the terrorist attacks, the crippling effects of Obamacare, the prospect of expanding war in Syria, and as always Iran.

There is one over-riding constant that defines as it divides the present era: the fact that America has a President who advances values and policies diametrically opposed to the traditional beliefs of a vast number of Americans.  From bowing to foreign leaders to not knowing how many states there are, from vowing to fundamentally transform America to actually doing it, President Obama is to many the Manchurian Candidate.

Elected the first time on a vague promise of hope and change he has been re-elected on a blatant promise to re-distribute the wealth and complete the transformation of  America into a welfare state.  His bureaucratically imposed policies such as Cap-n-Trade and the Dream Act are blatant end runs around the authority of a Congress that overwhelmingly rejected both.  The alarming reality we all must face is that for the first time in American history we may actually have a president who is anti-American.

Barack Obama is blatant in his anti-American rhetoric.  Such as:

In America, we have this strong bias toward individual action. You know, we idolize the John Wayne hero who comes in to correct things with both guns blazing. But individual actions, individual dreams, are not sufficient. We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations.”  Emphasis added.

And what would help minority workers are the same things that would help white workers: the opportunity to earn a living wage, the education and training that lead to such jobs, labor laws and tax laws that restore some balance to the distribution of the nation’s wealth ...”  Emphasis added.

But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. And to that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as it’s been interpreted. And the Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties — says what the states can’t do to you — says what the Federal government can’t do to you — but it doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf.

And that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, the tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so court-focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that …” Emphasis added.

These positive rights are what Progressives have been trying to establish since FDR floated his idea of a second bill of right which included:

·                     The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation

·                     The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation

·                     The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living

·                     The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad

·                     The right of every family to a decent home

·                     The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health

·                     The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment

·                     The right to a good education

Now all of these sound great and in a perfect world might make up a laundry list of prizes falling out of the cornucopia of utopia.  In a real world they would mandate a government large enough to provide everything and powerful enough to take everything away.

The whole idea of having a constitution is to limit the government which is in essence a charter of negative liberties.

President Obama goes on to state, Now, just as there was in Teddy Roosevelt's time, there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let's respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune.  ‘The market will take care of everything,’ they tell us.  If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes -- especially for the wealthy -- our economy will grow stronger.  Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers.  But if the winners do really well, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everybody else.  And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn't trickle down, well, that's the price of liberty.

Now, it's a simple theory.  And we have to admit, it's one that speaks to our rugged individualism and our healthy skepticism of too much government.  That's in America's DNA.  And that theory fits well on a bumper sticker.  But here's the problem:  It doesn't work.  It has never worked.”

And of course there is his infamous “You didn’t build that” statement which exposes his complete misunderstanding of what it takes to start and grow a business.

With a leader such as this whose basic understanding of America is at such odds with those who once constituted the majority of the citizens and the continuity of our History is it any wonder that so many feel as if they are living in a conquered nation?

Conquered by who?  As Pogo once told us, “We have met the enemy and he is us.”

Or as Garet Garrett, quipped as he chronicled the fall of the Republic and the rise of the American bureaucratic Empire said, “There are those who still think they are holding the pass against a revolution that may be coming up the road. But they are gazing in the wrong direction. The revolution is behind them. It went by in the Night of Depression, singing songs to freedom.”
