    1. Being black is not a crime. Do not inject color of skin into the situation. If you want to inject color then had Trayvon been white then the blacks would not have a problem with Zimmerman shooting him in self-defense. Now, that is the heart breaking reality. The would have never reached "high profile status". What does that say?

    2. Even if Zimmerman feared for his life, all he had to do was show Trayvon the gun. Following him in the first place was too far but shooting him was beyond unnecessary. I hope that if I am followed one day and choose to defend myself that my life doesn't end because of it. And I hope the same for you.

    3. First of all, you never draw a gun unless you expect to use it. Brandishing a fire arm as a form of intimidation or to have someone "back off" is illegal last I checked. Drawing a gun and shooting someone if you believe your life to be in danger is legal. Case in point, being in a fight and having your face/head beat is considered "self-defense". I feel so bad for Trayvon and his family but I also feel sorry for George Zimmerman having to live with the knowledge that he took a son from his mother. Second, I hope that if I am ever followed one day that I am able to run for help and scream as I do to attract attention.

    4. Apparently you haven't seen the evidence or watched any of the trial.

Regardless of what happened leading up to it the fact of the matter is Zimmerman was on the way back to his car after confronting Trayvon and did not start the fight. He was accosted after speaking with him as several whiteness's on both sides have testified to. He was beaten black and blue as the pictures show and feared for his life and Trayvon was not stopping the beating. The forensic evidence shows powder burns on Trayvon's shirt but not his skin a minimum of 6 inches would be necessary for their to be no powder burns on his skin. This means Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman beating him. Had he not shot Trayvon, had he tried to intimidate him with his gun, as so many suggest, we would most likely be watching the Trayvon Martin trial for the shooting death of George Zimmerman. Had he had no gun it would either have ended with Zimmerman dead from the beating or permanently hospitalized.

    5. Thank you Jaime! That is so right.

    6. If Zimmerman hadn't held a gun, he wouldn't have felt powerful enough to follow some teenager in the first place.

  2. If Trayvon had been white Zimmerman wouldn't have profiled him as a criminal. No matter how people try to think racism wasn't a factor it really is. The comments GZ made while on hold with 911 were hateful and done so out of dislike for young AA men. If it was truly self defense then no one would have a problem but this was not self defense. It was a hateful man shooting a young black man that was of no threat to him. Trayvon is the one that was fighting in self defense bc that GZ approached him.

    1. GZ never ultimately identified the color of the suspicious person while making the 911 calls...how does Trayvon being black mean GZ was out to get him? Please tell me exactly which comment(s) by GZ were "hateful and out of dislike for young AA men?" because I may have missed something. Also, if GZ wanted TM dead "out of hate" then he would have shot him from behind yards away and THEN called police and LIED. Why would GZ allow one punch to hit him when he could have drawn his weapon on TM immediately when TM was approaching him. Race only became a factor after the fact and at first it was white on black...then the truth revealed GZ was actually HISPANIC.

    2. Zimmerman isn't even white

    3. The poor kids appearance (skin color, clothing, facial expression, etc.) is obviously what caused Zimmerman's suspicions in the first place because that it is all he had to rely on. It's not like he knew Trayvon personally or witnessed him actually doing anything wrong. Bottom line is that Trayvon did not deserve to die and anyone who believes that POS George Zimmerman is innocent needs to evaluate what they stand for.

    4. Bottom line: Trayvon did not deserve to die BUT I believe GZ acted within his rights which equates to innocence in this case. I know what I stand for: the right to bear arms, the right to defend yourself, and the right to freedom and equality for all. Also, I stand for justice whether it means I am on the side that is popular or the side that is not.

    5. Trayvon may very well have been defending himself but he is not here to share his side of the story. I believe in the right to live.

    6. You're correct Trayvon is not here to share his side of the story because Trayon decided to attempt to handle the situation himself. Trayon made a fatal mistake by assuming he could take on the "creepy ass cracker". Trayvon should have jammed home and called the police about the man that was follwing him. Hindsight is 20/20. Trayvon didn't deserve to die. I believe in right to life also...in ALL aspects.

    7. Judging by George Zimmerman's account, Trayvon mishandled the situation completely. However, Trayvon was seventeen years old, aka A KID! Zimmerman was the ADULT. If Zimmerman hadn't decided to attempt to handle the nonexistent situation himself, he wouldn't be in the situation he is in now: a murderer. I mean come, Zimmerman misjudged Trayvon's intentions based on his appearance alone! Zimmerman made a mistake too, he did not act like an adult, and he didn't listen to the policeman's orders. Zimmerman should not be off the hook for killing someone, sorry...

    2. Sometimes when black people say this, they are stating the truth. In this particular case, Trayvon's race may have very well been what triggered that piece of fucking shit's (aka Zimmerman's) suspicions; maybe, maybe not. However, I agree that it's best not to play the race card because racist white people will bitch and moan about it and even claim that white people are the biggest victim's of racism. I am white by the way and the way.

    3. Sometimes African-American is only an assumption not always a true description. My fiance is Liberian and not African-American although everyone calls him African-American. He prefers to be called "black" as he refers to caucasians as "white". Can't please everybody...

  4. If there is anything that makes me hate humanity, it's the great deal of support that George Zimmerman seems to be getting...despite killing someone's son. Seriously, fuck George Zimmerman and everyone who believes he should walk free.

I don't care about Florida's stand your ground law, I don't care that Trayvon Martin liked to smoke weed or that he's been suspended from school. How do these things add up to a young man deserving to die? Are you perfect?

It's about morals! It's about a young man's right to live being taken away all because he appeared to be "suspicious" to a loser, wanna-be cop. If that POS Zimmerman was following Trayvon, I don't fucking blame the kid for lashing out because I would do the same. Especially if I wasn't doing anything wrong in the first place, just walking to see my father. And again, for those who believe that murderer should walk free: FUCK YOU! ugh it frustrates me.....

    1. Thanks for the F**K YOU. I believe GZ is innocent due to the facts and evidence in the case. It is something that George Zimmerman will have to live with and God will judge him in the end IF he is guilty and gets off. However, I would rather not see an innocent man jailed if he does not truly deserve it. It happens a lot and to ALL races. With all the name calling...if you kill a hispanic man in self-defense...hopefully you don't have the comments like POS, loser, wanna-be, ect. that you made used against you. Trayvon did not deserve to die from his gunshot wound. He had a whole life ahead of him. I wish he would have just ran away instead of approached GZ.

    2. First of all, I never brought up race in the first place in my post. But since you asked, I am a white woman. Show's where your mind is...

Secondly, I don't follow people when I have no idea who they are and find them suspicious based on their appearance alone. So if a hispanic man attempts to kill me, it won't be because I've chosen to pursue him.

Who knows. Maybe Trayvon was acting out. But maybe he as scared. Maybe he was acting out in self defense. Being followed by a strange man can be scary, you know what I mean?

    3. I never said you brought up race. I was making a point about how derogatory remarks may be turned around and used against you.

I don't know about others but when I'm nervous or scared I run to call for help. When I'm pissed or want to prove a point I head toward the issue. Either way...never assume someone is unarmed or about to be beat just because he is smaller than you.

    4. Forgot to address your cooments:
First of all, you have no idea where my mind is in regards to race. Don't assume or it makes you look foolish. Personally, I believe it is irrelevant. And, I'm sure you wouldn't be out checking your neighborhood for suspicious individuals because you probably aren't "neighborhood watch captain". He followed and then retreated. He looked for an address and lost sight. Justice prevailed.

    5. I was not thinking about race in my original post for a second. When I read your response, I was initially confused as to why you referred to a "hispanic man" that I would potentially have to defend myself from. So yes, I know that your mind was on race in the moment you wrote that post.

And no he did not retreat. He should have never gotten out of his car (and no - I don't believe he was trying to read a street sign in his own neighborhood, a neighborhood he'd lived in for several years). He was told not to continue to follow the Trayvon by ACUTAL professionals and he continued to anyone.

  5. What makes me mad is that they can bring up GZ's past and they couldn't bring up Trayvons and they try to make him look like a saint.

    1. I am surprised I haven't heard about riots yet. People rioted after a basketball game that they WON in one city.
April 1992 riots after Rodney King's attacker cops walked were warranted though.
Maybe this is the calm before the storm. Lock your doors and keep your weapons locked and loaded! ;-)
