Four-Star General Mattis Fired Without even a Phone Call over Iran Questions

HT: The Weekly Standard

Just days after the news four-star U.S. Marine General James "mad dog" Mattis, a very outspoken Marine if there ever was any and Commander of the United States Central Command since 2010, was being replaced, we are starting to uncover a very disturbing story behind his removal.

It is being reported that neither the White House nor the Pentagon had the courtesy to even inform the four-star General of his pending removal, or notify him by telephone. Instead, an aide passed along a note to him with the announcement of his replacement while he was travelling on business.

And while that's one of the worse cases of civilian indifference and complete disrespect towards a leading officer I have ever heard of, the reason behind it is even worse - apparently the General made civilian officials uncomfortable with his questioning of Iran, of how we would deal with Iran if the nuclear threat is neutralized, how to deal with their exporting of terror, and nuclear info, etc.

Apparently he was too "hawkish" to tolerate in their opinion... Well, shit... A man who has seen war for decades has a right to be concerned about a nation of theological nutcases developing an nuclear weapon to destroy little Satan (Israel) and big Satan (Oh, the United States), but I guess that's just too sensitive a topic to discuss in Obama's second term.

I am disgusted. It's bad enough the administration is trying to confirm former Senator Hagel, who not only has offended our allies in Israel with his offensive comments and votes against them, but who is an ultimate dove on the issue of Iran, who favors doing nothing to prevent their program... But now removing a four-star General because he was too hawkish? What exactly are they going for here?

Something's fishy in the Potomac...

Author's note: I originally referred to General Mattis as a three-star General, when in fact he is a four star-general... I apologize for the typo and it has been corrected.

    2. General Mattis. Today we Lost general Mattis. I had the opportunity to serve with him on several occasions. He led from the front. He could have traveled in helicoptors or stayed on the base like other generals; however, he chose to be in t...he field with his Marines, his "fine young men," in the dirt, grime, and blood.

On one occasion I had to help clean up that blood after his vehicles were attacked. This never phased him. He was a living legend in the Marine Corps, one who was loved as a Marine and as an Officer.

He expected his men to be killers. He taught us that killing in that theater was right, just, and in his own words, "fun." He knew that an effective Marine Grunt could not have reservations as to his purpose: to kill. He saw the world as it should be; black and white, good or evil.
      ...
Obama just fired him. A man who was fighting in wars when Obama was still expirimenting with Cocain and Weed with his "choom gang." After over 30 years of service, leadership, and dedication to his Country and fellow Marines, a lesser man removes him.

We are worse off as a nation without Mattis. Today, after reading this, I am ashamed to be a citizen of a country whose president does this to its heroes.

I leave you with this quote from Mattis which embodied the spirit of what we felt as grunts in Iraq. “I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I am pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you f--- with me, I’ll kill you all.”

  3. What a shameful deed our king obama has done to an American hero! Perhaps the General could run for President next time....if there is a next time. I wouldn't be surprised if obama does away with term limits.

    2. As usual the country idiots that don't pay attention to history of the rise to power of tyrants will see too late that Obama is truly a dictator.

  4. All of your are sick, I am a retired Marine and also have served with Gen Mattis. It is always two sides to every story, and right now we are only hearing one side. It is a good thing for freedom of speecH, WHICH SOME OF YOU ARE HIDDING BEHIND. You should look at your elected officials from what ever state you are from. They are the ones that make the decisions. However, It does not matter who is the president, there comes a time when all warrior must retire.

    1. Thank you for your service. Sadly, site like this and Fox news just want to bash this president. Gen. G. Patton was asked to step aside as well. You would think that a 4 star would know how to play the game by now. You can not just say what you what and feel like saying. Gen. Mattis forgot that he has a boss. My older brother retired Col. USAF says that one of the reason that he retired in addition to 20 plus years was all the GD politics.
