Federal Election Commission Fines Obama Campaign $375,000 for Multiple 'Egregious' Violations

But, hey, nothing shady happened, I'm sure. From Mediaite:
President Obama‘s 2008 campaign has been fined $375,000 by the Federal Election Commission for reporting violations regarding donations received towards the end of the campaign. An audit was requested by the Republican National Committee and according to the FEC, the Obama campaign failed to provide notices for nearly 1,200 contributions which totaled nearly $1.9 million.

FEC rules say that campaigns are required to file reports on donations of $1,000 or more received during the final 20 days of the campaign. These reports must be filed within 48 hours.

The fines to the Obama campaign are among the largest ever demanded of any presidential campaign. The group paid $230,000 and the Democratic National Committee paid the remainder.
