Erdogan Falls Short of Super Majority

Prime Minister Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (ADP) might have increased their vote share slightly in yesterday's election, but his party lost fifteen seats overall and their ability to rewrite Turkey's constitution without bipartisan support.

Excellent news.

2011-2015 Meclis Proportion:

AKP - 326
CHP - 135
MHP - 53
INDP - 36

The secularist Republican People's Party (CHP) gained twenty-three seats and maintained their status as the head opposition in Meclis, while the Independents (mostly Kurds from South Eastern Turkey) gained nine more seats and a decent share of power.

We still have a long way to go before Turkey returns to their secularist, western roots, but at least their recent downfall can now be blocked by our allies within.

What say you?
