The Washington State Republicans' 29th Annual Spring Gala straw poll of 357 attendees has shocked the political landscape with their straw poll result that shows Georgia talk show host Herman Cain edging out nearly one dozen other announced and potential candidates for the Republican nomination next year.
1. Herman Cain - 54 votes.
2. Mitt Romney - 52 votes.
3. Mitch Daniels - 51 votes.
This vote came only twenty-four hours after Cain's well received performance at the first Presidential debate of the season, which was hosted by Fox News in South Carolina on Thursday evening.
Cain's victory was really surprising, but Daniels third place finish is telling after he won a similar straw poll in Oregon just two months ago. Perhaps the Indiana Governor might have to reconsider his position on whether to run.
