Ensign Not Running for Re-Election

 Embattled Nevada Senator John Ensign announced that he will not run for another term. The Nevada Republican had served two terms in the Senate, but has been badly damaged in the polls after an extra-marital affair became public. Ensign was not expected to win a re-election bid, and 2010 Senate candidate Sharron Angle has already hinted that she may run in 2012. Nevertheless, he made the announcement.

 He held a press conference to announce his decision:

"I did 348 events in the state of Nevada this year," Ensign said at the press conference. "I just came to the conclusion that I couldn't put my family through it."

Hopefully the Nevada GOP does not nominate Sharron Angle again. If she could not defeat a heavily-disliked and damaged candidate in Harry Reid, she will lose to just about anyone in 2012.
