America's Last World War I Veteran, Frank Buckles, Has Died

Unfortunately we have some bad news to share with our audience this morning. The United States has lost its last hero from the First World War. Frank Buckles, 110, has died. Buckles had lied about his age to join the military and was captured in World War II.

He is one of the last remaining veterans of World War I. There are reportedly just two remaining on the planet.
Born in Missouri in 1901 and raised in Oklahoma, Buckles visited a string of military recruiters after the United States entered the "war to end all wars" in April 1917. He was repeatedly rejected before convincing an Army captain he was 18. He was 16½.

"A boy of (that age), he's not afraid of anything. He wants to get in there," Buckles said.
Rest in peace.

  1. A great American Hero. The last of a great group of men (and boys) who saved the world the first time from German aggression.

Too bad their Commander-in-Chief was a pacifist dumbass who wanted "peace without victory", and who lived in the fantasy world that this would be the "War to end Wars".

  2. Mr. K, as a person who wrote a 22-page paper on Woodrow Wilson and his decision to go to war, you need to read some more.
