Was the Reading of the Constitution a "Stunt" or a Masterstroke?

After taking control of the House of Representatives, Republicans decided to read the entirety of the Constitution out loud.  Many conservatives see this as a masterstroke, showing that the new Republican leadership realizes who they answer to and where their power comes from.  Many liberals are calling it "racist" and a political stunt.  Yahoo! was quick to publish a video in which it proclaims reading the Constitution both a "political stunt" and "serious endeavour" at the same time.
