Dem Who Said He Could Back Boehner Backtracks

Congressman Bill Owens of New York's 23rd Congressional District, made headlines this week with the revelation that he was considering voting for John Boehner as the next Speaker of the House. Owens, a conservative Democrat, only won a special election last year thanks to a bizarre three-way race. Again in 2010 he owes his under-50% re-election on Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman refusing to take his name off of the ballot.

Now it appears that Owens has changed his mind-- the Democratic leadership must have gotten to him. He's changed his tone to now voting for Pelosi.

"I was blowing off a little steam because I was agitated that neither one of them had responded to me," Owens said.

So much for that.
