Post-Fox Business GOP Debate Random Thoughts

By Teri O'Brien

Thanks to all of you who joined me for the live chat at teriobrien.com during the Fox Business Channel GOP debate. I will probably scribble more about it, but here, in no particular order, are a few thoughts:

John Kasich is still an insufferable gas bag. Listening to him drone on, inflicting a rambling, incoherent brain dump on the audience, made me want to shove an ice pick in my ear.

Jeb Bush didn’t land the knock out punch his supporters hoped for. He was the same dull as dishwater, amnesty-loving RINO he has been all along. Please go back to Florida, Jeb, and leave us alone.

Ted Cruz had an excellent night, as I expected he would. Marco Rubio also did well, so it’s looking like what’s developing is a Cruz v. Rubio show down.

Over at the kids’ table, Chris Christie did well. I have major issues with Gov. Christie, as you know, but if we have to have a RINO in this race, I would prefer him to either Bush or Kasich. At least he went after Hillary. (OMG, Kasich. I can’t even … He actually said, in the context of defending amnesty, “Think about the children.”)

Great line from Rubio: “For the life of me, I don’t know why we have stigmatized vocational education. Welders make more money than philosophers. We need more welders and less philosophers.”

Great lines from Cruz: “Washington is fundamentally corrupt. There are more words in the IRS code than there are in the Bible — and — and not a one of them is as good.” and “If Republicans join Democrats as the party of amnesty, we will lose.”

Great lines from Trump: “[W]e are a country of laws. We need borders. We will have a wall. The wall will be built. The wall will be successful. And if you think walls don’t work, all you have to do is ask Israel. The wall works, believe me. Properly done. Believe me.”

Also, FABULOUS that Trump mentioned how Eisenhower handled the problem of illegal aliens. “Let me just tell you that Dwight Eisenhower, good president, great president, people liked him. “I like Ike,” right? The expression. “I like Ike.” Moved a 1.5 million illegal immigrants out of this country, moved them just beyond the border. They came back.

TRUMP: Moved them again beyond the border, they came back. Didn’t like it. Moved them way south. They never came back.”

More about Ike and illegal aliens here, which we discussed on this edition of The Teri O’Brien Show.

Excellent, Mr. Trump! As you know, I haven’t endorsed anyone yet. What did you think of the debates? Your winner? Loser? Best line? Please comment below.
