Deadly blast in Bangkok: At least 27 people dead with dozens more wounded

A bomb explosion targeting a popular Hindu shrine in central Bangkok killed at least 27 people and injured dozens more on Monday.

"We are not sure if it is politically motivated, but they aim to harm our economy and we will hunt them down.

"The perpetrators intended to destroy the economy and tourism, because the incident occurred in the heart of the tourism district," Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon told reporters.

Police and emergency crews cordoned off streets in central Bangkok on Monday as an investigation started into the cause of a large explosion.
