Nuclear talks with Iran extended through Monday

The Times of Israel is reporting that the deal is 98% done after major U.S. concessions, including abandoning the demand for snap inspections.

If true, this means that we will be "trusting" Iran to live up to the deal. In other words, there will be no surprise visits, only those that are pre-arranged and approved by the Iranian regime.

The Iranians are in a strong position, knowing military action was never on the table, that our western partners will never reestablish sanctions once lifted and want Iranian markets opened up (especially for arms - cue Putin), and the Obama administration will settle for a any "legacy" deal before President Obama's term ends.

Iran is clearly running the show, and is waiting for Obama to concede or as Iran news media call it "The West has SURRENDERED to Iran's Power"

From the WSJ:

"The mood among international negotiators taking part in protracted talks over Iran’s nuclear program, which has swung from positive to starkly negative in recent days, began to improve again on Friday as officials said they would continue discussions over the weekend.

"To allow more time to reach an accord, the European Union and the U.S. said Friday they were extending the terms of a 2013 interim nuclear deal with Iran to Monday night. The British and French foreign ministers, who left the nuclear talks on Friday, said they would return on Saturday to try to push through a final agreement.

"In Tehran, Iran’s top lawmaker warned Friday that his country was ready to ramp up its nuclear program if the U.S. and its Western partners make the “strategic mistake” of walking away from the talks. Ali Larijani, speaker of Iran’s parliament, was addressing a pro-Palestinian rally during which thousands of Iranians took to the streets, burning British, American and Israeli flags."

"Iran’s top lawmaker warned that his country was ready to ramp up its nuclear program if the U.S. and its Western partners make the “strategic mistake” of walking away from the talks."

As if Iran was not pursuing their nuclear program as best they can right now.  This is clearly a desperate, hollow threat that clearly indicates we should walk away from the talks, and ramp up sanctions further.

The Obama administration continues to ignore the fact that Iran:

1) Remains a state sponsor of terrorism.

2) Is illegally holding an American hostage.

3) Purchased anti-aircraft weapons from Russia despite our objections.

Putin calling for a lifting of all sanctions is further indication that we should walk away and increase sanctions.

It will be fascinating to see if the JV negotiating team of Kerry and Obama can figure out the obvious.  If they continue the appeasement approach, it will fall to Congress to shoot down this ill conceived agreement with Iran, before Israeli jets do.

Tell me again why we are "negotiating" with, and making concessions to, this state supporter of terrorism, who makes no secret of their abject hatred of and hostility toward the United States and Israel?
