All Trading stopped on New York Stock Exchange

The New York Stock Exchange halted all trading today. Exchange officials are saying trading was halted due to a major technical issue.

"NYSE/NYSE MKT has temporarily suspended trading in all symbols.

"All open orders will be cancelled. Additional information will follow as soon as possible," the NYSE said on its website.

“We’re currently experiencing a technical issue that we’re working to resolve as quickly as possible,” a representative of the exchange said in an email.

“We are doing our utmost to produce a swift resolution, communicate thoroughly and transparently, and ensure a timely and orderly market reopen.

“We chose to suspend trading on NYSE to avoid problems arising from our technical issue,” the NYSE also said.

Earlier in the day, China stocks nosedived and 1,287 stocks were frozen along with 45.6% of the Shanghai-Shenzhen stocks.
