Can the GOP work with President Obama?

Obama-pen-phoneListening to Barack Obama makes me wonder what does this man think about when there is no one around to see him or to listen to him privately express his thoughts?

The man who promised hope and change is now just change. The change Obama seeks is the total transformation of America, from a constitutional republic, into just one more socialist state modeled after a failed European model.

President Obama has made it perfectly clear that he wants more government, and that Republicans have no place in his agenda. There is no doubt that Obama is going to go after the GOP.

Obama also made it clear that those who have made America successful by helping organize its people and lead them freely towards new heights, have no place in his agenda.

There are two types of people in the world, those who divide people into two types, and those that don’t.

Mockery aside, the insistence on “us vs them” that’s so prevalent in politics today can be directly traced to our current President, who has made it abundantly clear that he has no interest in being everyone’s President.

Instead, Obama has shown us that he wants to be President for those who agree with him, and dictator for those who do not. What’s the difference? Obama represents the former and resents the latter.

“Us vs them” has been around as long as human civilization has. It’s biological. But, the point of having representative government and a President of the nation, rather than of his party, is to provide a framework for managing differing desires and peacefully and amicably resolving “tribal” differences.

A President can choose to try to be leader to all. Bill Clinton, after his 1994 spanking, famously tacked to the center, and got involved in bipartisan legislation.

Obama, on the other hand, hasn’t even tried. He passed his signature healthcare law without a single Republican vote – something that’s directly traceable to his totally partisan preparation of the bill itself – no consideration to “outsider” input, no discussions with the other party, just “here’s what we’re doing, hop on board or get left behind.”

If the Republicans, out of sheer fear, cave into the President, then we will be bankrupt before the end of this presidency. Obama’s desire to spend will far exceed the country’s ability to tax, and therefore we’ll continue to print money, because no one else is going to loan us the trillions Obama needs.

With the massive currency printing will come inflation, making our currency worthless on the international stage. Once the currency is worthless, we won’t be able to import all the goods and services that the welfare state needs to feed and cloth the people.

Hence bankruptcy, and a possible recession that will make 2008 look like grand old times.

The GOP leadership and rank-and-file have no excuse any longer for believing that there’s some sensible pot of gold at the end of a compromise rainbow. Obama might bluff in a private conversation with John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, but what you say in your inaugural is for the ages and is very much you.

Obama is about expanding government at any cost, and regardless of the shambles that another President will be forced to try to clean up. The only way to deal with a man who resolved to see a vision incarnated that you know will lead to national disaster is to oppose him without constraint.

Obama may believe he has executive authority to act on certain things without the approval of Congress, and, short of voting impeachment articles, there may be little the House can do to dissuade him in this tyrannical undertaking. However, the President certainly can’t spend money without the House’s blessing without getting impeached, and on this issue the Senate might just barely convict.

Unless something is done to stop the out of control spending, I predict the US debt will be $22 trillion by the time Obama leaves office, or $26 trillion if the economy goes into a recession (likely). Based on the policies Obama is proposing you would think he resolved the imbalances in the U.S. economy, but he hasn’t even acknowledged or comprehends them.

There is no chance the U.S. government can continue borrowing 40 cents of every dollar it spends while the federal reserve monetizes 90% of government debt issuance with artificially low interest rates and stimulus. A lot of the phony borrow and spend consumer based economy is going to evaporate the second interest rates rise.

I just wonder if sovereign debt time bomb will explode on Obama’s watch or if he’ll be able to kick the can down the road long enough to punt the problems to his successor. My guess would be the scam can’t continue that long.

Obama has used his presidency to further divide America. An America collectively celebrating our great nation would risk the ultimate agenda to divide and conquer.

Fortunately, the founders of this nation had the vision to implement checks and balances to prevent a spontaneous collapse of our country. The GOP must fight this political battle with every fiber of their being.

On March 4, 1865 Abraham Lincoln took the oath of office for the second time, and as was the custom gave a short address that ended:

“With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation’s wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.”

Lincoln would send his words to the nation by mailing a copy to the newspapers. His style was not to put on a show, to stage a campaign event, or to hold a quasi-religious ceremony. Lincoln was a modest man. How much we miss that quality today!

During his second inaugural, Obama put on a straight face in an attempt to articulate how irresponsibly the GOP has been impeding progress. We have seen that in the last few weeks, as Obama no longer considers George W. Bush the prime clog in the wheels of forward march of evolution to a centrally planned and controlled state.

In future days and months the message will be the same.

Now that Obama won reelection, forced socialized medicine on us against our wills, and trying to fundamentally transform America to unrecoverable bankruptcy, I think Obama has made it clear his goals include the total destruction of the Republican Party.

With a steady chin like the prow of a fast ship moving inexorably to the unseen maelstrom ahead, Obama will push his monitor – forward! If Barack Obama has never had an appreciation for liberty, the U.S. Constitution, or budgetary common sense, he never lacked confidence in his ability to defeat the GOP.
