Yemeni Intelligence Officer's Killing al Qaeda's Shot Across the Bow

Al Qaeda has much of the world on high alert, with the United States closing down multiple embassies across the planet in fear of an attack. The first one seems to be from the Qaeda hotspot Yemen, where American officials had feared an attack. This comes during unrest in the country. The death of the intelligence official seems to be the first part of the possible attacks.

Officials say Lt. Col. Mohammed el-Mamari was shot on his way home Sunday. He was walking to his car after work when two unidentified gunmen killed him in the central province of Bayda. The officials spoke anonymously in line with regulations.
