Pictures: Ron Paul Praises David Duke in 1990

"Liberals are notoriously blind to see the sociological effects of their own progress. David Duke was hurt by his past. How many more Dukes are waiting in the wings without such as taint?" As a Republican, I hope there are no David Dukes "in the wings" because David Duke is a disgusting racist.

Either Ron Paul wrote this himself or he, once again, "didn't read" the article before his name got slapped on it. Here's the entire article:

  1. Whoever wrote this article is simply saying David Duke has some libertarian positions that make sense, unlike his other baggage and the libertarian positions got him 45% of the vote. A clear and clinical arguement of fact that cannot be argued. Unless you believe that it was the baggage that got him the 45% and not the libertarian views. Why do you want to kill the messenger? If you don't like the message kill the message. Or slime David Duke if that turns you on. And don't be vague, accuse him of being a member of the KKK during his LSU days 50 years ago, that should work. But trying to slime Ron Paul with this is not "truth standing by itself".

  3. I appreciate your posting the actual pages from the newsletter so folks can read it and decide for themselves.

Having read it, it seems like pretty innocuous typical conservative/Republican talking points from the 1990s. The author agrees that David Duke's past was hideous and shameful, and doesn't even support Duke or explicitly call for forgiveness. Rather, the author supports the platform of tax cuts, no quotas, no affirmative action, no welfare, and no busing. Note that several of these policies were enacted during the following decade (strong turn against racial quotas, welfare reform.)

Thanks for the images - where did you get them? I'd like to read more.
