Oregon's brush with Japan's tsunami resulted in five-to-six foot waves crushing the shore; school closures; tsunami sirens blasting, and four people that needed to be rescued near Pistol River, one of which almost drowned.

Oregon marinas and ports have been damaged, but there have been
no reports concerning the loss of human life, which is something we need more of today. I applaud Oregon authorities in relation to their successful evacuation measures that probably saved lives.
