Hillary Clinton apologizes for using personal email server as Secretary of State

Facing increasing pressure over her approach to handling the ongoing email controversy that has dogged her campaign, Hillary Clinton told ABC News her private email server was a mistake.

"Yes, I should have used two email addresses, one for personal matters and one for my work at the State Department. Not doing so was a mistake. I'm sorry about it, and I take full responsibility.

"It's important for you to know a few key facts. My use of a personal email account was aboveboard and allowed under the State Department's rules. Everyone I communicated with in government was aware of it. And nothing I ever sent or received was marked classified at the time.

"As this process proceeds, I want to be as transparent as possible. That's why I've provided all of my work emails to the government to be released to the public, and why I'll be testifying in public in front of the Benghazi Committee later next month.

"I know this is a complex story. I could have—and should have—done a better job answering questions earlier. I'm grateful for your support, and I'm not taking anything for granted," Clinton said on Facebook.

When you live with dirt it eventually covers you. The emails scandal is catching up with Hillary and she may soon drown in her lies about them.

The real question is why Mrs. Clinton set up the personal server in the first place. Her suggestion that this was for convenience to do things like email Bill died when it became known that Bill has received 2 emails in his life. The man does not use email, something his wife would know.

Put the dots together and we see a Secretary of State using her office for private gain, with the Clinton Foundation as their money laundering vehicle.  Hillary and Bill are clever enough to develop plausible deniability, and scream conservative conspiracy at each step in the investigation.  But fortunately Hillary does not have the charm of Bill.

Remember folks, Hillary was the frigging chief foreign officer of the United States for crying out loud. Her official emails are presumed to be confidential to begin with. Please don't tell me that she can send 30,000 official ones, none of which are confidential.

Are we supposed to believe the Hillary never responded to emails sent to her with classified information? What difference doe it make?  Hillary chose to use a personal server and to get emails sent to her.

The Clinton camp takes refuge in the claim that the emails were not marked top secret and supposedly the FBI's investigation is not criminal. Well let me disabuse them.

There is most definitely a criminal inquiry being done by the FBI. If you have a body and it has been determined that it wasn't suicide or an accident, you know you have a crime. Well, in the case of at least one email it has been established that it came from Hillary's server and it contained the highest classification, top secret, and was so delicate that its handler is presumed to know that it is highly secret.

Hillary was in possession of classified documents regardless of the source (I would think that most State Dept communications between the SOS and others would often be classified) and because of her obsession for controlling every aspect of her public persona, she knowingly made the decision to bypass obvious security protocols.

After 25 years in government and as a lawyer, Hillary knew full well what could be judged classified (she also was one of the few specifically authorized by Obama to classify documents on her own) so there is no excuse for the incompetence of this breech. Her personal obsession trumped any judgment on the proper course of action and that includes her self-editing deletion of thousands of documents. She can't hide from the higher standard that was expected of her now that she has been caught in her self-made, Sandy Berger moment!

The only question is whether Hillary was responsible and even if she was not the one who took it out of government control, she should have known how delicate it was. So she is guilty as sin unless it wasn't her who handled and sent it. But the fact that it is a criminal inquiry remains.

I'll tell you something that truly defies common sense and that is the people who still believe in her and they number in the millions. All she does, and I don't think I exaggerate when I say she didn't accomplish anything as Secretary of State, or Senator, and all she does today is give speeches, anyway, all she does is tell her followers what they want to hear. Yes, it truly defies common sense.

Ironically, it is this same lackadaisical attitude on the part of the Washington elite to protect themselves at all costs that is inflating Donald Trump's attractiveness with the polling public. People are fed up with paying for the double standard that they are being forced to live with, whether it be taxes, regulations, observance of laws, insider trading, etc. They are tired of the government exemptions the elite enjoy at their expense.

The fact that Hillary so far appears to be being handled with kid gloves vs others punished for lesser infractions simply serves to pick at the scab of government discontent.
