Pope Francis Shuns Grand Apartment for Two Rooms

Practicing what he preaches. From the BBC:
Pope Francis has decided to shun a grand papal apartment on the top floor of the Vatican's Apostolic Palace in favour of a modest two-room residence.

His spokesman said he was "trying out this type of simple living" in a communal building with other priests.

In doing so he has broken a tradition which is more than a century old.

The decision reinforces the newly-elected Pope's austere reputation. As archbishop of Buenos Aires he refused to move into the Bishop's Palace.

Preferring more modest accommodation, he also often cooked his own meals.

  1. I feel this Pope has the great chance of repairing the unhelpful, arrogant "holier than thou" view a lot of people think the modern church holds with his great humility.

    1. I am greatly impressed by our new Holy Father! I have been since he was elected and asked for everyone to bless him! I hope he stays with us for a very long time.
I did not feel the same for Benidect I don't know what it was. I do respect him and hope he finds eternal rest soon. But from the start I was unsure of him. I do miss Pope John Paul II....but he deserves the peace I am sure he has found. Now let's loose the man made law of priests not being able to marry. And maybe women as priests? Just a thought
