Mila Kunis: Wicked Witch of the West

So recently I happened to watch Oz: The Great and Powerful and I have to admit the film wasn't that bad, as the special effects make Oz come alive like never before, while paying homage to the original film and, for me at least, best of all was the complete and total lack of singing.

But there was another factor that definitely made the movie worth watching: Mila Kunis. The feisty Ukrainian begins this adventure as a gullible, kind-hearted witch who quickly falls for the con-man wizard, but is turned by her evil sister into becoming the evil Wicked Witch of the West.

Mila Kunis... Sexy Ukrainian witch who always has me enchanted.
Which is also one of the worst parts of the entire film, at least for me (and every other teenage boy, or father who saw this movie), because we witness the transformation of Ms. Kunis sexiness into the most disgusting, downright ugliest and terrifyingly hideous character of cinematic history:

Mila Kunis... What the fuck happened to you?!?!?! My eyes!!!
Can anyone say total and complete buzz kill?

But she pulled off the part pretty, darn well I must say. And so did the entire movie for that fact - James Franco did an incredible job as a young Oz, while the story was wonderfully believable as a prologue to Baum's original Oz novel written almost one hundred and ten years ago, and the movie which debuted 7 decades ago. Thankfully without freaking singing or dancing.

What say you?

  1. If you ever saw a picture of her without makeup on you would run away screaming.
Just wait until she gets a little bit older and her mustache comes in.

  2. Mila as the witch was the worst part of the movie. She looked nothing like what the witch should have looked like. For starters her entire head was so overdone and prostetic that it was three times the size of what it should have looked like. Rachel weisz should have been the wicked witch of the west.

  3. "Oz the Great and Powerful" has given the box office a lift it badly wanted for 2013. The film itself could not be the same as the 1939 original because the "Wizard of Oz" was made by another studio.

What is obvious is that there can not be a direct link between Disney's film series and the original. I know nothing about film copyright or trademarks or anything like that so I am open to correction but the only way that the new Disney films would be direct prequels to "The Wizard of Oz" would be if there was agreement between the studios concerned but as things stand now, that is highly unlikely.
But still , it will be interesting to see what the writers will do for the sequels to "Oz"
Michelle did a sesnational Glinda and Rachel played a very evil Evanora perfectly.

I thought Mila Kunis did a superb job as the good witch then as the evil wicked witch of the west. Actually she makes a very sexy wicked witch too because the most observent viewers will know it is Mila Kunis under that makeup. Beauty in the eye of the beholder. Mila's Wicked Witch in her dark leather outfit complet with pointy hat , you know she is a naughty girl she is terrifying and dark in a very evil way but in a way that is also sexy and alluring from a dark point of view. And no , I did not find the new Wicked Witch ugly at all.

But it was always going to be hard on which actress got this role as they had a very hard act to follow the original actress of the 1939 Wizard of Oz who made the character so iconic.

If I were advising Mila Kunis and if she is looking at comments online (which is doubtful but still) I would say "Do not fear playing the character Theodora. Not many actresses can say they played Theodora of Oz and the Wicked Witch of the West on a cinema screen. Embrace it fully and follow it through as best you can. Leave nothing behind. That way you know you have given your Theodora everything. No regrets. Now go out there and tear Oz down"-haa

  4. Michelle Williams did super job as Glinda and she played Glinda maybe more reserved yet updated to the original actress who played the Good Witch of the South back in 1939. Michelle captured Glinda's kindness and goodness.
Joey King did wonders with China Girl and Finley the Flying Monkey , another epic character.
James Franco as Oscar Kinda of held back but he did well.
I hope Rachel Weisz's Evanora is signed up for the followups because she shone as the true evil witch.
She plays evil with relish and is a joy to watch.
Note to writers: make evanora even more evil.
Speaking of wicked witches where theodora goes from good to been evil Mila Kunis Top notch.
Yes she was apprehensive at the start of "Oz number 1" but who would be taking on the role of one of the greatest villains in film history. Any actress would be shaking in her kneels playing theodora so nerves does come with the part especially after Margaret Hamiliton turning it into such a huge role.
Mila Kunis is playing the Witch of the West for the 21st century no pressure whatso ever. key thing is for the here and now . she is doing great
When looking at margaret hamilitons historic performance in the wizard of oz , the actress who plays theodora can only put their best foot forward and do as good a job as they can. what will be will be.
the makeup department for "oz" got the right look for the wicked witch of the west. they have her terrifying to an extent but not too terrifying as to send the audience fleeing out of the cinemas crying. this wicked west is dark but sexy dark and why wouldn't she. As Theodora is played by the Sexiest Woman in the World right now. And it is not the first time Mila Kunis has won such awards. And it will not be the last.
I saw the first clip of bloopers from "oz" the main reels are available sometime in June. I can not stop smiling.
