Emir of Qatar Purchases Six Greek Islands Near Ithaca

In one of the more interesting stories to come across the wire, the 56 year old Emir of Qatar has purchased six islands apart of the archipelago Echinades, near the famous Ithaca from Homer's Odyssey, for roughly 7 million Euros much to the delight of Greece, extremely broke and looking for a savior.

The Emir, who has three wives and twenty-four children (no, neither is a typo..), first fell in love with the six islands on a yacht trip to the Ionian Sea several years ago, and agreed to purchase the largest of the islands last year, but do to forestry regulations, took until recently to obtain land use permits.

Reportedly the emir wants to purchase an island for every single one of his children, which considering the nation's severe indebtedness and struggling economy, could be rather cheap for one of the wealthiest men living today, who has pledged billions in Qatari funds to help rebuild Greece's aging infrastructure which in good intentions has been frustrated by Greek's regulatory hellhole to this point.

I wish the Emir best wishes in his slow takeover of Greece (what? he probably has more money to spend than the Greek government, he could totally buy them out and extend the Qatari empire), although he will first have to win Greek approval to build a house bigger then 250 square meters, as his kitchen alone has to be over 1,000 to feed all of his guests...

What say you?
