Where Is Julian Schreibman?

Where is Julian Schreibman?

That was the question I kept asking myself in the lead up to tonight's third and final congressional debate between Mr. Schreibman, the Democratic nominee, and Republican Congressman Chris Gibson inside Morris Hall at the beautiful SUNY Oneonta campus, situated on the western edge of the 19th district.

Dozens of Gibson supporters, including yours truly, showed up to SUNY Oneonta early to rally for our candidate of choice and to fill the audience, with some even cooking up a few pots of homemade chili to keep supporters warm in the cold and miserable weather conditions that engulfed the "City of the Hills".

We were thanked repeatedly by the Congressman, who showed up almost an hour early, and his staff - every single one of whom were relieved to have so many supporters come out to the pre-debate event.

On the flip side, the Schreibman supporters numbered in the handfuls, were transparently outnumbered through out the pre-debate event by campaign officials, and as far as I saw, were not greeted by their candidate once while standing outside. In fact, I didn't see him once before the debate at all - inside, or outside, while the Congressman and his wife were mingling with people almost the entire time.

It definitely distinguishes the two men on a personal, down-to-earth, retail politics level and tells us a bit about how the two men will represent the freshly redistricted 19th district in the House...
