NATO to Convene on Turkish Strike Today

NATO is poised to hold what appears to be an emergency meeting on the rapidly escalating series of events in Syria and Turkey. The meeting will take place later today.

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu had contacted NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen, and "it has been decided that the NATO council meet urgently," the office said in a statement.

NATO on Wednesday said it strongly condemned the Syrian shelling of a Turkish town that killed the five Turks, a spokeswoman told AFP.

“NATO expresses its strong condemnation,” said Oana Lungescu. “NATO continues to follow the situation closely and with great concern.”
