English Soccer Player Charged with... Using Racist Term

Now, if this is true, I'm not condoning any racist language, especially directed at a group or an individual. That being said, American freedom of speech and press protects us from offensive but not illegal speech. For example, "Stalin was really great" is an idiotic thing to say or write, but if it's illegal, it's censorship.

English player John Terry is under charge and may be fined up to 2,500 pounds!

John Terry said: "I am disappointed with the decision to charge me and hope to be given the chance to clear my name as quickly as possible.

"I have never aimed a racist remark at anyone and count people from all races and creeds among my closest friends.

Chelsea FC has always been fully supportive of John in this matter and will continue to be so”

"I will fight tooth and nail to prove my innocence."

What's going on?
