West Virginia Gubernatorial Results

This special election to fill Senator Joe Manchin's term in the governor's office had turned into a tight race, but not tight enough for Republicans to squeak out their first gubernatorial victory in fifteen years.

Here are the results (via AP):

Earl Tomblin (D) - 149,909 - 50%.
Bill Maloney (R) - 142,197 - 47%.
Bob H. Baber (M*) - 6,058 - 2%.

Tomblin and Maloney definitely fought to the grave in this one, but the fact remains that West Virginia votes for Republicans to lead the nation and Democrats to lead the state.

What say you?
