New Poll Shows Cain Tied With Perry for Second

The Republican field continues to show surprises as Herman Cain has surged into second, according to a new ABC News poll. The former CEO has risen as Texas Governor Rick Perry's numbers have dipped. Cain has received a lot of press recently, while Perry's last debate performance likely hurt him in the polls.

According to this latest poll, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has taken first place, although he has difficulty gaining traction in the field.

This comes into place as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will reportedly announce that he is not, in fact, running for the Presidency, despite massive speculation. His press conference at 1pm Eastern will likely state this.

Romney: 25%
Cain: 17%
Perry: 17%
Gingrich: 9%
Paul: 9%
Bachmann: 7%
Santorum: 2%
Huntsman: 1%

All of this comes a day after a new poll places Herman Cain in second in the Florida primary. The Florida contest, which was moved up to January, may be one of the most vial:

Romney: 28%
Cain: 24%
Gingrich: 10%
Perry: 9%

All of this is good news for Cain, if he can keep up the momentum.
