Obama Betrays Great Britain on Falkland Islands

HT: Nile Gardiner

President Barack Obama joined forces with Venezuelan despot Hugo Chavez, Argentinian President Cristina Kirchner and the unanimous Organization of American States in "reaffirming the need" of Argentina and Britain to resume negotiations on the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands.

I'm sorry - the Falkland Islands.

What the hell is wrong with Obama?

Not only did he side against our most important ally in the entire world over territorial claims that were settled almost three decades ago, but he called the islands by their Argentinian name - instead of their accepted British title.

Great Britain lost 258 soldiers' during the Falklands War, which was launched by the Argentinian invasion of the Falkland Islands, in order to maintain their self-determining South Atlantic territory that has been in their legal possession for almost two hundred years by conquest and consent.

President Obama has once again insulted our British friends, but this time it isn't over returning Churchill's bust or sending their Prime Minister DVD's that don't work - it is over Britain's sovereign territory that they have 100% claim to and it is over Stanley's right to self determination.

America must remove this menace from office next year, or else our friendship with Britain could be impossible to repair.

What say you?

  1. It will be a lot more than our friendship with Britain that will be impossible to repair. Obama will take the USA down to second or third world status in a second term. The vast debt incurred and the balkanizastion of the US population will break the country.

  3. An utterly disgusting statement from someone who should know better. We in Britain will always consider the United States a long and great allie. Obama, you are a fool.

  4. Hey Obama, why don't you give Alaska back to the Russians? And how come Hawaii is one of the United States? Hands off the Falkland Islands. If we hadn't defeated Argentina in 1982, Argentina would not be a democracy now but would still be ruled by a military junta that used to murder opposition, some of whom were thrown naked, wrapped in chains, from the back of a C130 into the estuary of the River Plate

  7. This is the same bullshit that has been going on for years. It's not Obamas doing, hell even Regan signed the same agreement back in 1988.

  8. We Brits have overwhelming support, I believe, within US centre and right-os-centre public opinion. What many there may not feel comfortable with, however, is the plain fact that, since the end of WW 2 various US presidents have been busy helping to dismantle, for US benefit, the former British Empire ( also the French and Dutch empires) and worldwide powerbase.

Obama is merely continuing, in a more obvious and disrespectful way, this process. I believe our place on the UN Security Council will also come under threat if he reamains in office much longer. In my mone, it would not be completely in the realms of fantasy for him to initiate a campaign, perhaps from withinthe EU (read a non-violence and anti- nucear Germany) to force us to relinquish our nuclear deterrent, under all kinds of fine sounding and, naturally, intellectual, words.
Like so many perhaps well intentioned democrats, his head is screwed on correctly for home affiars but in foreign affairs he will prove to be a disaster for the US and the world: see Jimmy Carter:)
    He is a menace.
