Canada Election Results

The polls are closed in Canada and it appears that the Conservative Party is on its way to a majority. This will also be its third consecutive win in national elections. Prime Minister Stephen Harper will retain his post for another term. This will be the first time that the Conservatives will have a majority in Parliament. Current projections show the party with 166 seats (155 needed for majority).

Some coverage from the CBC. The results so far (as of 11:31 EST):

CON: 39.95
NDP 30.79
LIB 19.2
BQ 5.74
GRN, 3.57
IND .033

This shows the collapse of the Liberal party, which picked up 26% in 2008 while the NDP had just 17%.
