The Cost of Medical Education

Pierce Hibma, a 3rd year medical student posted an article on the cost of medical education over at Kevin MD. He crunches the numbers a bit and his conclusions are spot on and help to answer the questions as to why we have a coming doctor shortage.

From a personal perspective, I walked out of medical school over $200,000 dollars in debt. That is, I had a mortgage, without the house. This of course is graduate and undergraduate student loan debt that will hang around my neck like a millstone for the next 30 years or so. I lived very frugally through med school and my debt was significantly less than many others.

Go read the article if you are so inclined and check out the comment section for some interesting perspective.
