Ten Largest Earthquakes in World.

This morning's 8.9 magnitude earthquake* in Japan, which has produced a tsunami that is heading towards America's western coastline, has observers hitting the record books to check out the largest quakes on record, and this morning's devastating quake doesn't even come close to the record.

1. 10.0 earthquake - 1960 - Valdivia, Chile.
2. 9.2 earthquake - 1964 - Alaska, America.
3. 9.2 earthquake - 2004 - Indian Ocean.
4. 9.0 earthquake - 1952 - Kamchatka.
5. 9.0 earthquake - 1868 - Arica, Chile.
6. 9.0 earthquake - 1700 - Cascadia.
7. 8.9 earthquake - 2011 - Sendia, Japan.
8. 8.8 earthquake - 2010 - Maule, Chile.
9. 8.8 earthquake - 1906 - Ecuador/Columbia.
10. 8.8 earthquake - 1833 - Indonesia.
