Blinded By Ideology: The Gay Left's Suicidal Ideation?

Two interesting stories out today about the gay left actively attempting to appease radical islam.

First from Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud, on his new blog Red Barron. He cites an article posted at National Center for Lesbian Rights that lists numerous gay left groups who are vocalizing their dismay at Congressman Peter King's hearings on radical islam.

Nevermind that radical Islam teaches that the penalty for being gay is DEATH. Honestly, the Onion couldn’t have written this release.

Signing on to this attack on the King hearings, a de facto defense of radical Islam, included the National Center for Lesbian Rights, Equality California (who might as well just become the Communist Party of CA) and Lambda Legal.

I guess all the work of fighting FOR gay people is done so these lefties can now spend time defending the barbarism of radicalized Islam.

It’s unbelievable that gay conservatives get called “traitors” for failing to support the left’s big government agenda, while these left wing gay groups publicly stand up for an ideology that brutalizes gay people for simply being gay. Where is the outrage?

Instead of attacking Rep. King for holding these hearings, gay groups of all political stripes should applaud him for taking a serious look at the potential domestic proliferation of this radically anti-gay ideology.

At Gay Patriot, Daniel Blatt, conservative gay blogger extraordinaire, finds groups actively calling for the cancellation of gay pride parades in London's East End, not by the likes of Gary Bauer or the religious right, but by gay rights groups who think that these pride displays will cause undue tension between gay people and Muslims.

An open letter signed by Out East chair Thierry Schaffauser and Terry Stewart of the Hackney Community Engagement Board claims that the Pride march may “divide our communities” or be used “to oppress other marginalised groups”.

Out East organises Hackney Pride and the letter has also been signed by Denis Fernando of Unite Against Fascism and the Greater London Association of Trade Union Councils.

It says: “We believe that the most appropriate response to the stickers is to liaise with Muslim communities and others to create bridges and communicate with each other.

“We want both homophobia and Islamophobia addressed as a collective problem and not feed one against the other, we do not recognise these as distinct categories.

“We will refuse any attempt to divide our communities or take the risk that an LGBTQ event is used to oppress other marginalised groups, in particular LGBTQ Muslims who will be the most affected by this rising antagonism.”

Blatt adds his thoughts~

That’s rich. These folks have the view that all victims are alike; if you’re an approved victim of Western straight white male hegemony, then we need address animosity (or perceived animosity”) as a “collective problem.” Wow, just wow. These guys are more concerned with offending Muslims than they are with speaking out against anti-gay bigotry.

If Muslim groups have a problem with a gay pride march, wouldn’t that indicate that they harbor, um, well, politically incorrect sentiments about gay people? It seems that some gay activists are so desperate to be part of this coalition of the oppressed that the ignore how many Islamist regimes oppress gays — while other Islamist organizations, even in Western countries, favor our marginalization if not persecution.

Remarkably, with head planted firmly in the sand Jack Gilbert, co-chair of LGBT forum Rainbow Hamlets suggests that the incendiary stickers are the work of the English Defence League suggesting , "We have evidence that they were very likely to have been produced by far-right sources in order to foment community tension." Now that is evidence I would like to see, but am sure none will be forthcoming.

This much I know to be true, there is nothing more sacred than fealty to leftist ideology. That is a fact! Just ask feminists, environmentalists, unionists, teachers, doctors, and gay right's advocates.

  1. For months, if not years, certain people on the Right have been warning about a coalition between the Far Left and radical Islam. This is more evidence. It doesn't matter that Muslims are the main oppressors of homosexuals throughout the world. Each group's goal is to take down the free market economy and the American way of life. I don't think the Left has given much thought about the consequences. What is going to happen if the Leftists and radical Islam are successful? Are both groups going to "come together" at "the top of the mountain"? Or, once it is all said and done, is one of the groups going to push the other one off "the top of the mountain"?
