Old Messages Confirm: Obama Always, Always Wanted Public Option

Since ObamaCare was struck down as unconstitutional recently, it is important to bring up a topic that has gone back and forth for years now: did President Obama ever support a so-called "public option" for the American health system?  If you were to believe liberal apologists, they will probably tell you that Obama never supported the public option.

Take this moron from the Young Turks, for example:

Quote the idiot:  "So now, everybody's coming around to what I've been saying for a long time... which is, oh, it turns out, Obama never wanted a public option in the first place.  Of course!!!  How long have I been saying that on the show?!"

"Better than you" smugness?  Check.  Liberal-inspired you-are-a-moron-for-not-agreeing-with-me bravado?  Check.  Absolutely no facts what-so-ever?  Double check.

Or how about this moron, John Knefel, from the Huffington Post:

Quote the idiot:  "To assume that Obama wants the public option based only on rhetoric is the height of idiocy. Do we assume a husband loves his wife simply because he says he does, despite years of infidelity? No, we don't. We judge him or her by their actions, and any one who doesn't use that standard is rightly accused of being naive."

It's almost amazing how poorly-informed these liberal hacks are.  However, I want to end this stupid debate once and for all.  Here now are four tweets, written by President Obama himself, that confirm that, yes, he wanted the public option.  No misquoting, no claims of being out-of-context.  Simply President Obama's own words as President:

August 20, 2009:
September 9, 2009:
October 26, 2009:
October 29, 2009:
And I'll also point out that half of these pro-public option tweets came after Knefel wrote his scathingly stupid article.

Hopefully this puts this stupid debate to an end forever.  President Obama wanted a public option.  He said it, he campaigned on it, he pushed a bill that included it.  This debate is over.

  1. The debate's not over is it. Politicians change their mind on things, and say one thing in public and another thing in private. So Obama tweeted about the public option, big deal! That's all you've got, pretty weak argument...
