Libyan Jets Fire on Protesters

Libyan police are  murdering hundreds of protesters every day.  A man who seized power 41 years ago tries to retain his rule over a country that wants him out.  Now, according to multiple reports, jet fighters are firing live ammunition into groups of protesters.

Witnesses, Al Jazeera, Iran's Press TV, and Israel's Haaretz News are all reporting that Libyan jets fired upon protesters today as the revolts in Libya grow to their most intense yet.  Just yesterday, the son of Maummar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, warned that protesters "will pay" for their alleged "crimes," promising bloodshed.  Deploying jets to kill revolutionaries could just be the first step.

Press TV stated:
The Air Force now has dispatched fighter jets to attack protesters amid a revolution that appears imminent.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi also tried to explain away the protests last night as a "plot against Libya" and "people on narcotics."  He also stated that Libya falling would be "one thousand" times worse than Egypt falling.  He also stated that "tomorrow" Libyans would create the Libya "we all dreamed of."

Apparently, to the Gaddafis, murdering civilians with aircraft is the Libya they dream of.

As the unrest continues, opposition leaders in Libya have called for renewed and bigger protests at sundown, which is coming soon.  Even Libyan officials who serve as Libyan ambassadors have resigned, as the LA Times reports:
Diplomats at Libya's United Nations mission in New York announced that they were breaking with the regime to support anti-government protesters on Monday.
The diplomats, with the exception of the Libyan ambassador, made the decision to distance themselves from Moammar Kadafi's government "because of the regime's despicable actions to attack the Libyan people," according to Adam Tarbah, a nine-year veteran of the diplomatic service.
Additionally, some of Gaddafi's own administration officials have resigned in protest.  It looks like the fall of the Gaddafi regime is imminent.
