Congressman Richard Hanna Recovering After Mitral Valve Replacement

U.S. Rep Richard Hanna who was elected last November to represent New York's 24th CD successfully underwent surgery to replace an ailing mitral valve. Although details are limited, spokeswoman Renee Gamela says he is expected to make a full recovery.

Under controlled circumstances this a pretty routine surgery. Although I have no direct knowledge I would suspect that difficulties with the Congressman's valve have been known for some time and the surgery was scheduled during the congressional recess.

I wish the Congressman a very safe and speedy recovery.

For more information about mitral valve replacement the Society of Thoracic Surgeons has some good information.
