Angle Planning Possible Ensign Primary

Sharron Angle, the 2010 Republican candidate for Senate in Nevada may be planning another run. Angle, who was defeated by Senator Harry Reid by 5% is looking at challenging current Senator John Ensign. Ensign is facing much criticism for his extramarital affair. Ensign is significantly weaker politically than he was in his re-election bid in 2006. In this climate the Tea Party favorite Angle may challenge him.

"I've got many options and I'm not ruling out anything," she said when asked about a possible primary challenge to Ensign. "I haven't spoken to Sen. Ensign but I'm sure that we will speak."
Ensign's poll numbers have taken a hit since he admitted in June 2009 to having an affair with the wife of one of his top aides. He's currently under investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee for allegedly helping the aide, Doug Hampton, land work as a lobbyist.

Angle proved last year that she could not defeat a politically hobbled Reid. If she splits the Republican field again she will lose, even to a poor Democratic challenger. It's time for her to focus on her current office in the state legislature.
