Obama Approval Rating Below 40%

President Barack Obama may not be popular anymore, but this news must be devastating to the White House. For one of the first times in his Presidency, Barack Obama has fallen below 40% in a national poll. This comes just a week before his party may be dealt a severe blow in the midterm elections.

Obama has pushed for many unpopular policies, like Cap and Trade and the ObamaCare bill. But it appears that these projects, along with the Stimulus has not only not recovered the economy but has angered both conservatives and his base.

This poll comes from Harris Interactive, polling more than 3,000 adults nationwide. The internals of the poll are not optimistic for Obama. Only 37% approve of Obama's performance and even liberals are turning on him now.

Approve: 37%
Disapprove: 63%

That makes almost twice as many that disapprove than actually approve. Of course the news becomes worse still:

It's perhaps not surprising that nine in ten Republicans (90%) and Conservatives (89%) give the job the president is doing negative ratings. What may be surprising is that one-third of Democrats (34%) and Liberals (33%) also give him negative ratings, as do seven in ten Independents (70%) and six in ten Moderates (60%).

Ouch-- even the Obama netroots are disgusted at this point-- although for different reasons. Still, if you take a look at the breakdown on the site you notice that Obama is not fairing well with the middle or working class.
