Election 2010: Incumbents lead in Utah House races.

Deseret News and Mason-Dixon each released poll results from all three of Utah's congressional districts today, and all three polls show the incumbent lawmaker leading in their re-election bids for another term in Washington. I have not seen this trend in too many other states.

Utah's 1st congressional district

Republican Congressman Rob Bishop has served four terms in the House, and has been mostly passionate with issues involving education, which is personal for the former high school teacher. He voted against the No Child Left Behind legislation, and supports school vouchers.

Deseret News Survey:
Rep. Rob Bishop (R) - 66%.
Morgan Bowen (D) - 21%.

Mason-Dixon Survey:
Rep. Rob Bishop (R) - 65%.
Morgan Bowen (D) - 13%.

Utah's 2nd congressional district

Democrat Congressman Jim Matheson has served five terms in the House, and has voted along Conservative lines more so than most Democrats dare. Even to the point of standing against 90% of his party on the War in Iraq. However, he's still a Democrat, and probably too liberal for Conservative Utah's liking.

Deseret News Survey:
Rep. Matheson (D) - 51%.
Morgan Philpot (R) - 39%.

Mason-Dixon Survey:
Rep. Matheson (D) - 48%.
Morgan Philpot (R) - 35%.

Utah's 3rd congressional district

Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz just finished his first term in the House, during which he voted against increasing the number of Troops in Afghanistan, and for limiting the use of full-body scanners at airports. The Congressman is not a friend of any establishment, and is beholden to none.

Deseret News Surey:
Rep. Chaffetz (R) - 70%.
Karen Hyer (D) - 19%.

Mason-Dixon Survey:
Rep. Chaffetz (R) - 56%.
Karen Hyer (D) - 11%.

Overall

Bishop and Chaffetz cruise to victory. And Matheson should be re-elected, but anything could happen with three days to go.
