Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank is at it again. Despite being blamed for the financial crisis during his last debate and being in trouble in the polls, the 14-term incumbent wants t make a sharp change in policy when he believes that no one will be looking-- even after the GOP wave coming in November.
According to Frank, on MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, he wants to overturn the existing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' law during the lame-duck session of Congress. This also comes near the time of the judge's ruling on the policy. So Frank appears to be going on the offensive to try and temper any criticism and any action by Republicans come January.
"There's no criticism of them." Frank said of gay troops. He later said, "We're very pleased we're making progress against prejudice."

Given that in the lame duck session, 3 (R) and 1 (D) who's a Blue Dog and is strongly against DADT repeal will be installed as the result of special elections - Barney's lying through his teeth.
ReplyDeleteThey'd need not just one or two, but nearly a dozen GOP senators to switch votes. Ain't Gonna Happen, and he knows it.
That was Obama's plan, to delay anything "controversial" until after November 2 by having a ridiculously long time of "consultation on how to implement" - which has miraculously turned into a "consultation whether to implement" in the meantime.
So DADT repeal will have to wait for the GOP to okay it, or until the Dems have control of the house,senate, presidency again... but that *still* wasn't enough this time, so might not be next either.
Obama and Barney say one thing, but do the opposite.
